Willl the EU survive if England votes to leave?

I know maybe some countries will follow England if it leaves, but will the EU collapse completely, cease to exist?

I think it's a bit presumptuous to assume that the entire thing will collapse with out one country (well, maybevgermany is an exception lol). But I think it sets a precedent.

IMO the EU is a failed experiment anyways. You can't have an overarching political body set monetary policy without also controlling fiscal policy. And if you give the EU both of those than the member states effectively lose their sovereignty. For better or for worse, I don't the people of Europe would accept that.

I think the EU is doomed. There was an article on the BBC site this morning interviewing a variety of Swedes who are convinced if the UK exits, Sweden will do the same.

The structure of the EU isn't sustainable, and the conditions are set such that changing that structure is probably harder than amending the US Constitution.

World history regarding forcing a nation-state scenario on nations of different cultures dictated that the EU was doomed from the start.

You got to realize that to most of us in America the UK is the same as Britain or England. I know it is technically not correct. Then again, I also like to rub Canadians and Australians by telling them they are just subjects of the crown to. They get mad. I tell them to quit putting the queen on their money

I know some French Canadians who are pissed off about it, but generally they see it for what it is. We share a constitutional monarch but that's it. It's like being chairman of the golf club and the knitting circle at the same time. They don't overlap. The Queen technically has no specific nationality. She is no less Canadian than she is English or Scottish or Australian, or any of the other places where she is monarch. (Ancestrally she's German and her children are half-Greek)

Anyway... PEDANT ALERT...

UK: The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland.
Great Britain: The largest of the British Isles... a piece of land, hence "great" in this context simply means big.
England: One of the three countries that make up Great Britain, the others being Scotland and Wales.
Northern Ireland: Six counties in the northern Irish province of Ulster. Not the whole of Ulster and not part of Great Britain but part of the UK. The other three counties of Ulster are Republic of Ireland territory.
Ireland: The second largest of the British Isles.
ROI: One of the two countries that make up Ireland, the other being N.I.

I believe the EU is effectively dead, it just hasn't stopped shouting yet. It's artificial currency is a disaster and its attempts at common fiscal policies an absolute joke. It is fundamentally anti-democratic and its whole existence is based on a lie: Formulated as a purely economic partnership to disguise its true intention to achieve, by successive steps that salami-slice the rights of nation states to govern themselves independently, a continental superstate. Brexit has the headlines now, but Independence movements are growing in all member states. Its impersonations of executive, legislature and judiciary are all unelected, yet membership is conditional on those self-appointed ogliarchs being allowed to overrule elected governments. In short, if you want to be in the EU, you can't make your own laws. And now it's trying to form its own army! When it's done that, it will consider NATO surplus to requirements and that will be a disaster. NATO has kept the peace for seventy years but Germany, which effectively rules the EU, considers it has unfinished business with Russia. Those who celebrated the reunification of Germany would do well to remember why it was separated in the first place.
Most people think WW2 ended in 1945. It didn't, it's just in prolonged recess and Germany is itching to start the next phase. They may have changed their methods, at last temporarily, but their imperial aims remain broadly the same. Well, Europe's mass amnesia is starting to wear off and people are waking up to what's happening.
Thanks from Sabcat and coke
