Where Soviet communism comes from - according to Putin

See, all you guys that say the US constitution comes from the bible are wrong. Your good uncle Putie has the truth for you.

Quote:
PUTIN SAYS COMMUNISM COMES FROM THE BIBLE, COMPARES LENIN TO A SAINT

Russian President Vladimir Putin has compared Vladimir Lenin to a saint and declared that Soviet communist ideas come from the Bible.

Putin was speaking during a documentary about the recently-restored Valaam Monastery on state-funded channel Rossiya 1, which tells the story of the building—located near the border with Finland—over the years.

A major point of discussion is the October Revolution of 1917, which led to the execution of the staunchly Christian royal family, the formation of the Soviet Union and a new chapter of atheistic and anti-religious policies by the Kremlin.
Old St. Lenin should soon supplant Santa Clause as all the kid's hero.

Hmmmm.....well I'll be jiggered. Putin didn't say a word about Corinthians 2, did he?? BUT....maybe Vlad has encouraged Don to actually READ the Bible.

You mean Putin and his oligarch buddies looting and laundering billions in wealth out of Russia for their personal benefit is what Jesus would do for the people ?

You mean assassinating political foes and journalists is the communists’ expression of love ? The meek shall inherit the earth is Putin’s model.

I'd love to hear Jesus on that particular 'staunchly Christian royal family'. Russian 'communism' arose from the reactionaries making life impossible for educated people, so that many of them decided it was worth chancing a working-class revolution in a country where that class was, if advanced, tiny. By the time foreign intervention had destroyed the class and Stalin had destroyed the Party, nonsense like this - indeed ANY nonsense - became easily conceivable.

I really do not understand anyone's love for Communism or what life was like in the Soviet Union, especially in the early days under Lenin and Stalin. Human rights were taken away, the vast majority of the people had no say or could form an opinion about anything, religion and culture were nearly eradicated and lastly, forcing the people to work under an unworkable and foolish economic system that provided nothing but misery to its subjects, who were not allowed to leave.

That to me was the awful part of Communism, not being allowed to leave and risk getting killed or imprisoned in inhumane conditions for life for simply wanting to go. And people want this back? Why?

IT can probably provide you with a more complete answer but here is my impression from having spent 3 months in a small city in the far north. This wasn't Siberia, but essentially due north of Moscow.

This was about at the peak of the Russian post-communism renaissance. Putin was pres but just starting to show his dark side and the economy was surging, people were optimistic, and the sky appeared to be the limit.

But many older people and some younger ones had had a lifetime of being told what to do, when to do it, where to live, and so on. They essentially had almost no choice in life and were protected. Now that they had to make choices, and the wrong choices could cause them real economic damage just scared the crap right out of them.

For those who were indoctrinated into that system, these new freedoms, and the resulting consequences were terrifying.

Now that much of the growth and optimism is gone, I think the trade off of freedoms for certainty is looked upon with favor.

The freebies. The freedom ... from medical insurance, property insurance, debt, from obstacles to higher education, from worry.

A utopia .... "in time" .... was promised and the promise was believed. Moreover, Trump didn't invent the fake news concept. People in Russia to this day believe the atrocities attributed to Stalin are a matter of fake news, and that Stalin was unaware of the atrocities his political opponents blamed on him .... AND, that if Stalin had been aware of them he would have put a stop to them.

As for the closed borders, it was a "necessary" step to protect the ideals of the Revolution from the corruption of the West's decadent materialism.

I'm not making this up.
