I wish could say the same for members of this forum. In fact I am treated much better on white supremacist forums than I am here. Yes, Nazis are generally more pleasant to deal with than members of modern culture, and I am Jewish. Thank God for the ignore feature.
Thanks from Kipper

The utter irony of one who starts a "Free Speech Forum" who then puts people on ignore.

I don't see the irony. Freedom of speech doesn't imply that everyone should be forced to listen.

Apparently he hasn't read the rules for using redstate.com site. He conveniently forgot to add conservatives to his list, and then made a point of listing those he ignores in his post.

Is this guy a tool or what?

“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44)

And a failure as a Christian too.

So which cultures hate free speech? Liberalism, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Of course I am referring to the modern forms of these groups.
Liberalism is well worst than conservative and right wings and capitalism??! And worlds all religion and top three in my rank Islam, Christianity and Jewish.

I do have a lot of negative things to say about modern culture, so if that offends you, that may be a problem. But I have nothing against the Ancient Greek gods or Athenian culture.

I think what is important to take from the Greeks is an understanding of logic and also understanding our nature that allows us to reason and makes us political in ways animals are not. You know the ideas that are essential to science and democracy and our liberty. Essential to things like taking sanitation seriously instead of blaming witches for our troubles. Science has resolved more evils than religion, sacrificing animals, praying and burning candles. It is this rediscovery of reasoning and the virtues of old, that got us out of the dark ages and back on track.

Now surely we are facing very serious problems. What are you going to do about that, pray to God so he will fix everything or reason through what causes these problems and what we might do to correct them?

You know Rome did not persecute Christians, but leading Romans were sure Rome was having problems because so many people angered the gods by refusing to acknowledge them. Jews, Christians and a few other religions refused to acknowledge the gods, so the Romans made it law that they must at least take insense to the temple and offer it to the gods. From there they punished all those who refused to obey the law. Now why do you think a god has apparently turned against us and what should we do about this?

too bad. your problem.

if I am offended I may or may not say so, but I just go elsewhere and/or ignore the offending party.

liberals today, being an intolerant lot, claim victim status for being offended and will use that to shut up by any and all means whatever speech they don't like.

as for joining a limited society and avoiding people altogether?, nah, that ain't me. I like to argue.
Might it work better to apply reason to the problem than to ignore it?

I agree with you. However, it kind of depends on why you chose to ignore someone. Ignoring someone can be considered rude. If the ignored person is intentionally rude or refuses to reason, it is unlikely any good is going to come from engaging with this person. In fact, things can be made worse by attempting to engage this person intellectually. However, unless there is good cause for ignoring someone, intentionally doing so is wrong.

Unfortunately today our representatives no longer represent us because they do not have a good understanding of why we have freedom of speech and for a variety of reasons they ignore us. I think there is a growing concern that not only are they ignoring us, but they are listening to those who have the big bucks and can make nice contributions to their next campaign. In that case, the freedom to curse these people on the street corner is not meaningful freedom of speech.

I rank Jews higher than Christians because their culture promotes reasoning better than the Christian culture. What religions do you rank higher than Jews?
