Free Speech Forums

Those who are interested in free speech in practice, as opposed to just theory, may be interested in free speech forums. There are very few. I know because I have been banned from hundreds for forums for expressing unpopular ideas. Virtually all modern cultures hate free speech in practice. Here is the list of free speech forums:

http://defendingthetruth.com/
Index page ? Happier Abroad Forum Community
Love-shy.com: Support for the dating-challenged - forum ? Index page
Symposium
The Phora - Powered by vBulletin
Forums | F169BBS
SlutHate.com - PuaHate

Note that this forum, "Defending The Truth", is the only mainstream forum in existence that tolerates free speech. The next 2 on the list are fringe anti-feminist forums. They both share a general hatred of Western society from a dating perspective, and this makes them tolerate free speech. Next are 2 white nationalist forums. White nationalists are the only group in the world today that show any tolerance of free speech. I am Jewish, and even though these groups don't like Judaism, they respect free speech enough not to ban me. The last 2 forums are basically unmoderated garbage.

So which cultures hate free speech? Liberalism, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Of course I am referring to the modern forms of these groups.

Oh no, now you have pushed my buttons, and I have to test the freedom speech tolerated here, because of how other forums have reacted to what I have to say about the power of moderators being as the days of old, when only the kings men were granted power. For me the problem is, only we the people can protect our freedoms, and if we don't we stand to lose them.

Every forum I have been in makes it clear that these forums are privately owned and they are not democracies. I have no argument with that. However, so are newspapers, and every other form of media, privately owned, and if private owners do not stand for freedom of speech, for how long will we have it?

This does not mean the freedom to say anything we want to say, and I would not participate in a forum where the culture encourages people to be offensive. I remember the early days of internet communication when there were no rules or moderators and I would not want to return to that. Freedom of speech is all about the power to reason and therefore sharing power. If what a person has to say is just emotional garbage, I just assume avoid it. I also have no interest in anarchy and do not think we should mistake anarchy with liberty. From speech to everything else, there are moral rules we should follow.

This is to say, there are two ways to social order, culture or authority over the people. Freedom of speech depends on social agreements and culture. Moderators are like the king's men even if they check with each other before taking an action. This leads to actions taken for personal reasons, and can lead to a bias that is not healthy. It sure does prevent a person from being heard, when moderators get defensive and forbid anything be said about their actions. This violates our protected freedoms of speech and freedom of religion, and trail by a jury of peers. It is the same mistake of the past, and I am not sure we can safely tolerate this? Not in a reality where we are losing public space and everything is privately owned, and increasing only those with the right of ownership have the right to rule, and we are no longer ruled by principles and shared social agreements.

Athena, I am not sure what your point is. Modern culture is an intolerant cesspool, so of course free speech is barely tolerated. What else would you expect?
