20K-25K Prop. 8 marchers in San Diego

SignOnSanDiego.com > News > Metro -- S.D. march backing gay marriage draws at least 20,000

That's a lot of people supporting gay marriage.

A lot more people turned out to vote against it...In several states.

100,000 people turn out to see Tennessee Vols play every home game.

I guess gay marriage isn't quite as important as a football game.

Well, how big of a crowd would a gay football game draw?

Sad but true.... I really hate some things about the society I'm a member of. Our worship of people that can toss balls around and run fast is one of them.

Funny you mentioned that. The San Diego State University Aztecs football team drew just over 19,000 fans for a game vs. #7 Utah. They play in the same facility as the 4-6 Chargers (phew!!!). The stadium holds 68,000 fans. So there were 49,000 fans disguised as empty seats at the college football game.

But the Aztecs are a bad football team, and they don't get much support locally, unlike the hotbeds like Tennessee and Alabama. The Aztecs are only 1-10. Help!!!!

What's 19,000 football fans vs. 20,000-25,000 marchers on a Saturday afternoon.?

Will there be any activity up in north county? I'm stuck up here in a very conservative town where 1 out of 10 households had yes on 8 signs on them, in one place there were actually 3 in a row. There was only one no sign, but it was by the street, not along peoples' houses.

I'm glad that there are people somewhere not too far away that are/were against this measure. I was horrified when it passed, and a tad bit angry too.

As the weeks go by no doubt these petulant anti-democratic protests will fizzle out.

And the appeals by Gloria Allred and others will probably go the way of most of her legalistic exploits and fade into obscurity.

I doubt it, Varuna. I don't think Oceanside has a large community of gays and lesbians. San Diego's Mission Hills and Hillcrest area have a large population of them, as you probably know.

That's probably the reason you saw a lot of yesses on 8 signs in the North County area of San Diego.

Good to have you on DTT, neighbor.
