I could accept "Stand Your Ground" laws, if they were more explicit in their definition. All too many of them are too broad in their definition, leaving such a situation as this one, as well as Zimmerman.

Zimmerman is one of the worst examples to make on either side of the coin. Only two people knew what really happened that night. One of them is dead. I am sick of the talk about Zimmerman as if anyone really knows what happened. Because no one does but Zimmerman.

One of the rare times I agree with you. We don't know.

And strip away the emotion and all, neither Zimmerman or O.J. were proved to be guilt. I am not saying either of them aren't guilty, but the prosecution in both cases did not present a competent case.

There was one witness that survived other than Zimmerman. Zimmerman's security buddy who was in the security car and told Zimmerman to let it go. He testified that Zimmerman got out of the car and ran Martin down and in the ensuing struggle Martin was shot and killed by Zimmerman. Zimmerman should have been convicted of manslaughter in the least but got off scot free. Zimmerman was a wannabe cop and I am a solid Republican.

My memory is acute when I am focused on something and I was focused on the Zimmerman trial and after I heard the evidence was firmly convinced that Zimmerman went far outside his duty. I don't have a link for my earlier statement and remember a lot more things about the trial. What the heck were rich people doing living in a gated community in Tampa with holes in the fence with urban blight next to them? They could hire wannabe cops but unable to fix the fence.
Thanks from coke

The black kid's dad or stepdad lived in the community and the kid was staying with him for a few days. That's why he was there. So what does the holes in the fence have to do with this?

Not how I remember it. The gated community separated the slum from places of interest to people who lived there and walked where they wanted to go. The holes in the fence provided a short cut and was commonly used by poor people to get where they wanted to go which was not the gated community. The fact remains that Zimmerman chased Martin down when Martin was only taking a short cut used by a lot of people. Martin could have easily outrun Zimmerman but he stood his ground.
