I read that interesting article. I currently am storing one of these for a client. It's a Hi Point 4095 Carbine, Semi-automatic, .40 Smith & Wesson, dirt cheap brand new.

It feels nasty. Looks pretty nasty, too.

Mossberg used to be a junk gun but they may have got their shit together. For pure excellence buy a Weatherby bored for the .460 Weatherby Magnum, an elephant gun.

In my asking around, several people have comment positively on Mossberg's quality.

Good article. This:

Many hunters find the muzzle blast and recoil of these cartridges intimidating, particularly when shooting the heavier weight bullets, but few will admit it.
I'll admit it.

I've shot with a .270, 7mm, .308, and a .30-06. The 30-30 will be "soft" compared to those. If I'm going for elk, I'll have to polish up my stalking and ambush skills.

Buy one and see if you can cut a squirrel in half with open sights, range 100 yds. People who scope their guns are not playing fair.

The Remington 270 bored to 7mm magnum is accurate beyond belief with open sights but never shot a squirrel with it but broke a good sized rock in half when a 30-06 with a hot load could not do it.

If you have a strong shoulder and eagle eye you can do it.

Edit: The H&H .375 will kill anything in North America.

I just got an idea. Instead of just black powder season, there could be a black powder and grenade season.

Concussion Grenades only. We have to draw the line somewhere.
