But even though the 5-4 majority ruling makes an intellectual end run around the language of the Second Amendment to get to their ruling, they very clearly state that society (government, convened to collectively protect us from what we can’t protect ourselves from as individuals) has the right to, and legitimate interest in controlling gun ownership, in several specific ways.

On pp. 54 and 55, the majority opinion, written by conservative bastion Justice Antonin Scalia, states: “Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited…”. It is “…not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.”

“Nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.”

“We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. Miller (an earlier case) said, as we have explained, that the sorts of weapons protected were those “in common use at the time”. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’ ”

The court even recognizes a long-standing judicial precedent “…to consider… prohibitions on carrying concealed weapons.”

Your quote is from the District of Columbia v Heller and is not applicable to this topic.

Whether or not you agree with Scalia's opinion is irrelevant.

Current gun restrictions as well as any future ones proposed with that opinion will be upheld, and none currently overturned.

Which is very applicable.
Thanks from RNG and Hollywood

Like I have already stated, there are logical restraints and there are unlawful restraints.

They're going to assassinate more of them. Just like they assassinated Scalia.

A majority of the nine. We had one conservative leaning judge die recently, no doubt he will be replaced by a like-minded judge.
IF no other judges die or retire during Trump's tenure there will be NO "trump Supreme Court."
Simple.

You have no argument. District of Columbia v Heller was limited to federal territory.

If Trump upholds his promise and appoints at justices who have a history of upholding the Constitution, the liberal non-constitutional rulings will fall.

Looking forward to Trump's national carry law and Trump's Supreme Court striking down unconstitutional 2nd Amendment restrictions on the coasts.
There is big drop in demand, and the hoarding will reverse itself, and turn into an oversupplied second hand market.
Guns people "invested in" will be going for a fraction of the price they paid.

And times are going to get harder for the demographics that tend to hoard weapons and vote Republican.
Trump's job program is to deport aliens, so those former steel workers can get jobs in lawn maintenance, fast food and hotel housekeeping, not to mention the lucrative opportunities in fruit picking....
