Huh?

Guns will be banned at a NRA convention where Mike Pence will be speaking “for his protection”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nra-conve...012331621.html

Shouldn’t we arm all the convention attendees? After all the RWers want to arm the teachers to protect the students.
Thanks from Camelot, Hollywood, Lyzza and 2 others

But, but, but, the more guns the safer we all are!!!
There would be THOUSANDS of "good guys with guns" to protect poor old Pence from any "bad guy with a gun" in addition to his Secret Service detail!!

What...The...Fuck???

Wait wait wait wait wait wait you’re telling me to make the VP safe there aren’t any weapons around but when it comes to children they want guns everywhere? Can someone explain this to me? Because it sounds like the NRA wants to protect people who help them sell guns, not kids.
Thanks from Camelot, Athena, Hollywood and 1 others

I'm sure there's going to be plenty of armed federal agents there; this would be analogous to having plenty of armed teachers, armed resource officers, etc. in a school.

I wouldn't imagine that anyone is being forced to attend this event. If you don't like the conditions for attending this event, don't attend.

School students don't have the option of attending or not attending; they are required to attend, or at least it's in their best interest to stay in school (aside from the fact that the gun-free zone federal law makes them sitting ducks).

Besides isn’t telling everyone the convention is a “gun free zone” just a big dinner bell to every nut that wants to shoot up the place?

Sure, if there won't be plenty of heavily armed federal agents. Are you claiming there won't be any armed federal agents there?

...Providing security to the Vice President, but what about the people there who aren't the Vice President, don't they have a right to defend themselves?

Goober, you fail at doublethink again. The NRA will never allow you in if you don't pull up your socks!

Defend themselves from what? No one will be able to get into the place armed (aside from federal agents, police, etc.), especially a mass shooter. How is there a safety issue, in this situation? The federal government invests enough resources to provide more than adequate safety for everyone. If a mass shooter wannabe somehow gets in (let's just say, I can't imagine how it would be possible), this will be perceived as a threat to the VP thus a threat to the facility (or vice versa) and quickly neutralized before having a chance to generate any level of mass casualties.

Again, I'm sure that no one is being forced to attend this event; so if they don't like the conditions, they don't have to be there.

It's like being a guest in someone else's home; the homeowner might be someone who's armed and they tell anyone who wants to go there that they're not allowed to be armed. If the guests don't accept those conditions they don't have to go there. That's not an infringement or violation of anyone's 2nd Amendment rights.
