States Won By Trump Have Highest Obamacare Enrollment

A record number of people signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act for the coming year, Barack Obama's administration announced Wednesday, with the most people selecting coverage in states that Donald Trump won in November.

Some 6.4 million people signed up by the mid-December deadline — 400,000 more enrollees than the same period last year, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

In a twist, the states with the most people selecting coverage all went for Trump in the presidential election: Florida, with just under 1.3 million selections; Texas, with about 776,000; North Carolina, with 369,077; Georgia, with 352,000; and Pennsylvania, with 290,950.

Those tallies do not include states that created their own digital health insurance exchanges, like New York and California, instead of using the federal government's HealthCare.gov website.

The enrollment numbers include new subscribers (2.05 million) and returning consumers who had to renew their coverage and were not automatically enrolled. The tallies do not yet include automatic enrollments, which will be added to the total later.

HHS Secretary Sylvia Matthews Burwell did not directly attribute the spike to the election of Trump, who has promised to repeal and replace "Obamacare," but noted that more than 30,000 people have called HHS operators "worrying about the future of coverage in the wake of the election."

Speaking to reporters on a conference call, Burwell said officials have been assuring consumers that "Obamacare" remains the law of the land through the 2017 calendar year and that people will be guaranteed coverage at least until then under the existing law.

They don't want it repealed, they want the same insurance they are getting from ObamaCare or better insurance for less money.

That was Trump's promise, to replace it with something that was much better.

That's what they voted for, they want more for less.

And they aren't going to get what they voted for, because that's how a scam works. The con man promises you something(much better health insurance for a lot less), if you do something(vote for Trump), and you did vote for Trump.
That's how a scam works, the sucker does what the con man tells him to do.
And the part where the con man delivers on his promise...seriously, look up scam in the dictionary if you still don't get it...and look it up before you apply for that high paying job coming back from China.
Thanks from tristanrobin

First off you voted for Hillary. You can explain why you and people like you voted for Hillary. You cannot explain why I and people like me voted for Trump. You don't get it. We do not want Socialism and socialist medicine. We want the freedom to choose to make our lives better. We do not want the government to require people to buy insurance. The mandate part. We want less intrusion not more intrusion.

I voted for Hillary because she was the candidate who was best qualified to be president.

So you don't want "socialist medicine", what do you want? What do you think you are going to get?
Do you think that Health Insurance is going to be $20/month for full coverage again?
I voted for Hillary because I believed (with reason) that she would do things that I approved of.
What do you believe Trump is going to do?
Do you believe the coal mines are going to re-open?
Do you believe that ?
Do you believe that hundreds of thousands of high paying steel production jobs are "coming back"?
Do you imagine that a wall will be built between the US and Mexico?
All you Trump voters tell us is about what you don't want, what did you think you were getting?
Because until you actually get it, you're gonna look like you got scammed...

And based on the people he's picked for the cabinet, you did get scammed...

I want something that removes the mandate. This will make it not Obamacare and something that is obviously less socialist. This is what I think I am going to get.
Thanks from Sabcat

Something where the insurance company doesn't have to cover pre-existing conditions, where the insurance company can decline a renewal application if the insured has a chronic condition?

Something where the largest cause of personal bankruptcies is medical expenses, by people who had health insurance....

Is that what you wanted?

Some that costs more, but covers less?

Because that's what you voted for

If you are asking me what I want that is different from what will be. But what will be will come closer to what I want. That is the point. Frankly I think I should be able to purchase what I want. Free from major government intervention.

Do I want poor people to fall through the cracks? No. Do I want the care of poor people to drag my care down? Absolutely not. If I was super rich I would not need any health insurance at all. I would just pay for the very best medical care no matter the cost. If a very rich person can simply pay for a heart transplant then why could I not simply pay for whatever health insurance that I decide on? My purchase should have nothing to do with the government.

Lefties often praise countries like Cuba for its healthcare system. Why? Is it because it is equally terrible for all people? Why cant the USA provide basic care for all people and let those that decide to buy their own upgraded health insurance to do so? I think all US citizens should be allowed access to health clinics that fix broken arms and stitch cuts, but not provide super expensive procedures.

This is what I think. If one does not strive in life to provide more for themselves and their family then you get basic care.
