It's one of the things the government can do much better than the private sector.
Health Care that works, costs more every year, and the better it works, the more it goes up. Because patients don't die, they live to become patients again.

The part of health care that has to go is the cost of insurance, the underwriting costs, the sales costs, the marketing costs, the administrative costs. Thats a pretty hefty share of medical costs, and pharma profits, and sales and marketing is another hefty share, and all of that doesn't provide a bed, or even an aspirin.
That's what National Health cuts out, which is how it provides the same level of care for half the cost.
Single payer doesn't cut out as much, but it still provides hefty savings.
The government pays for over half the health care in the US now.
The savings of going to national health would be roughly equal to all the private insurance premiums being paid now.

In the end conservative nonsense will lose, because we just can't afford it.
The concept of making money, big money, off of disease is a vile concept.

But there are ample sources that claim that most of those advances are funded by government grants and via university research.

That's a lie big pharma has been selling to the gullible for a long time now.

Plus buying politicians of course.

Those folks' opinions are far from objective.

Please, name some advancement that unless the US had developed it, it wouldn't exist.

Who are these folks?

That is not a valid question unless you know that the same advancements would have been created by other countries.

I notice no one commented on the article I linked to.

So a libertarian (LOL - not) is willing to turn health care over to the government, even after seeing the mess government made with Øbamacare. You cannot be a libertarian and be for single-payer.

The DMV works, the Post Office works, the VA works.
Oh,I'm sure you have some anecdote about the lines at the DMV or the Post Office at Christmas, but those things work.
And they work a lot better than a Trump Casino....

Your point is invalid unless you know that the same advancements - please provide an example - would NOT have been created by other countries.
