Medical insurance premiums financially cripple medical doctors. No wonder there is a medical doctor shortage.

This huge bureaucracy, is it the one running Medicare? As much as I'd like to bitch about Medicare like some folks seem to love to do, but I can't. I've had some medical bills of late. No problems with Medicare.

If the government could negotiate drugs prices - or put another way, what it would pay - for everyone....

The $420 med prescribed to me is $5.85 over the counter in socialist New Zealand.

So where will you get the doctors?
Thanks from webguy4

Engineering is a good profession and not so much for medical doctors. Good money is made in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering but if you are skilled in Electro-Mechanical you got it made.

I think we have a constitutional amendment against this.
What kind of LSD trip did you go on to come up with this one? Who and where are these sick people holding guns/extorting other people's labor?

Healthcare should be a basic human right, but the US is one of the few developed countries where medicine is a completely pay to play system, where you can buy good health if you're rich/ end a short life in sickness and misery if you got no money...that sounds fair in a survival of the fittest society...but that's not the kind of society I want to live in!

In the Canadian system of Medicare, I have to pay an extra $600 per year in a 'high income earners surtax' above and beyond payroll contributions. But, I want to see other methods used to control rising costs of healthcare to an aging population and keep it as a universal system!

We are culling the herd in the US. Too many people are causing collapse and destruction of planet Earth. Free health care only quickens our destruction.

"Culling the herd?" The Nazis pretty much killed the eugenics movement forever. Who's right is it to decide who lives and who dies?

So in your view people shouldn't have to pay taxes, and as well as health care you are against paying for your fire and police services, not to mention your armed forces, because other people might benefit from them rather than you.
Like it or not, modern society requires that those that can pay do so towards collective benefits. Given the cost and complexity of modern health care it only makes practical sense to include heath care in this list of benefits we all contribute too ( and it doesn't even have to be run by the government, they merely have to set the ground rules for the scheme).
It should also be noted that in no western nation with a universal heath system has there ever been a call from a large section of its population to abandon the universal coverage aspect
Thanks from imaginethat

We live in a country where ALL kinds of things are forcibly imposed. They're called LAWS. Most laws are imposed in order to protect people, regulate society, enforce rights and solve conflicts. These laws are guidelines that outline what is accepted in our society.
Example: Immunization. All 50 states have legislation requiring specified vaccines for students, with religious exceptions. Is that morally justified??

We're the world's only modern industrialized nation without a national healthcare system.
