"Violent Terrorists" Sent Home!!

Here's a perfect example of our senseless immigration laws and the DJTrump effect.
The United States government is shutting down Polly’s Pantry Restaurant and Tearoom, its owners claim. The popular Wildwood eatery must close Saturday, after a decade of operation due to work visa problems of English owners Polly and John Bennett.
They will lose their business, their home and adopted country.
“On Good Friday (April 14) we received notice from the Department of Homeland Security that we had two weeks to close because our work visas would not be renewed,” said a crestfallen Tricia “Polly” Bennett.
She and her husband are from England and renovated the building at 819 S. Main St. (near U.S. 301 and State Road 44) in Wildwood, about 10 years ago. Over that time thousands of Villagers have been served there.

WTF "squatters?"
Obviously they came here legally, they invested in the local community, probably employed a few local people, paid their state and federal taxes, bought supplies and goods from local suppliers, etc. etc.
The article said their visas would not be RENEWED, so obviously they had perfectly legal ones to begin with.

SO, what the fuck is with this squatters bull-fucking-shit???
Thanks from Clara007

There is something missing with this story. They have been here at least ten years, own a home, own a business, have work visas, and never bothered to apply for green cards, which under their circumstances, would be a fairly painless process.
Thanks from guy39, caconservative and Sabcat

Common. Don't go looking for reasons just use your feelings. These poor people are being removed unfairly.

Oh please! SQUATTERS??? You're as much emotion driven, if not more so, as anyone on here. Were you using reason or feelings when you chose that specific word?

Do I need to explain it using very small words for you boys?

Empathy, compassion....EMOTIONS

Fear, hatred........................EMOTIONS

No stupidity is not an emotion, you boys are safe enough on that one.

I'm not holding jack-shit. Tell Sabcat to "hold on" with calling people squatters when HE doesn't know the full story yet.

while it pains me to say this, jimmyb has made the most reasonable comment so far. if they have moved here, operate a business, have become part of the community for 10 years, why havent they done the final step? they certainly arent squatters, they are part of the community in every sense except the one that the department of immigration looks at. immigrants to australia generally get citizenship after about 2 years.

something similar happened to a work mate here, she was from england and had been here a bit over 2 years, had a baby with an aussie guy, owned a house, and was in the process of applying for citizenship when the department cracked down on "queue jumpers" for entirely political reasons, and she got caught up in it. but everyone within the department saw that it was stupid, and they worked around the laws and she is still here. and now a citizen.
Thanks from roastpork

Very shady. This is a complete lie.

Some have wondered why the Bennetts did not become American citizens, as they have spent 10 years living here. John Bennett said he was told by attorneys that English people could not become citizens unless they married an American citizen or were sponsored by a business company.
“We would have loved to become American citizens,” Polly Bennett said. “But it was impossible for us; we weren’t allowed to.
