Irony and sarcasm, you're expecting too much of liberals to expect them to follow that.

A few years ago an article was published (and a movie) called "Imagine a day without a Mexican". It's a fable--obviously--but makes a powerful point. One day we wake up and every single illegal has disappeared: No farm workers, no cleaners, no gardners, no landscapers, no roofers, painters, or nannys. All gone.
Our economy?
*Sales tax. Like everyone in the country, every time a refugee goes to a store and buys something, they pay sales tax. They buy milk; they pay sales tax. They buy shoes; they pay sales tax. They buy a television; they pay sales tax.
*Property tax. When refugees rent -- whether it's in an apartment building, a room in a house or a house -- a portion of that rent is passed on to the landlord, who pays property tax to the state.
*Payroll Tax--yes, they pay into social security but never take the money.
AND what about their buying power?

Our unemployment rate is now 4.3% and what does that mean? The lowest this country ever had was 4.2% under LBJ. Aren't we about to the point where anyone who WANTS to work IS working??
in australia we also have cleaners, gardeners, painters, nannys, roofers. there is a floating population of young backpackers, mostly europeans on working holidays, who do most of the fruit picking. they are paid well, minimum wage is about $16 an hour, they are mostly members of their union which the employer is entirely comfortable with, most get paid sick leave and paid holidays.

in short, we are able to get those tasks done and have a working society using employees. in america it seems you effectively use slaves. paid below a living wage, no legal protection, lacking the same rights as official employees, its slavery by another name. maybe its better than living in mexico, thats mexicos problem.

but, and this is really my point, dont pretend that the set up with illegal immigrants doing the dirty work is essential. it isnt. it might be "the way its done" but 21st century western society can work without such cheap dehumanising conditions. other countries do it. america doesnt need illegal immigrants.

Ay, and while you're at it, why not drive the poor and the sick out into the fields to stop you from having to give theivings back in tax by dieing. Bring back slavery while you're at it, and lets see an America such as the Founders intended!

Right that is exactly what I meant.
Of course Clara liked it so it must be what I meant.
What is wrong with asking those on welfare to do something?

Ironically its the Democrat party that supports the open border and allowing the "slaves" to stay. They claim they are doing the work that Americans wont, they claim that its cruel to shut the door, that they need taken care of. They claim they are more suited to the hard manual labor. It all sounds very similar to the Democrat party around 1850

Do what? Undercut other people's wages as slaves? Pull the other one - it's got bells on!

The immigration bill that the Senate passed and the House would not even allow to be debated would have increased border security by billions, offered work permits to immigrants so they wouldn't have to work for peanuts in horrible working conditions and would have rolled out stringent E-verify requirements on employers. Republicans killed it because their donors like the slave labor bucko.
