You don't want to attract metal shards, turn off the magnet.

Wouldn't turning off the magnet involve fines for people who employ undocumented workers?
And a way for people to get into the country legally?

I mean Texas has a law making it legal to hire undocumented workers, doesn't that defeat all their whining about the border?
Thanks from Camelot

Other than the illicit border guard payoffs...it's about the same cost as a Nimitz Class Carrier to effectively shut the border. It is entirely feasible to put a long nature strip in...maybe even a national park...and a free economic zone...and actually make it pay for itself. The Sonoran Desert is beautiful.

Still...sealing of the border is an anathema to this administration...because there won't be any harvesting of Hispanic votes.

Then why has no one done it?

So it's just this administration? In the past they cracked down hard?
I mean Reagan got rid of all the illegals, by granting them amnesty, but then the cost of dealing with the border was too much, with all the red ink he produced.
Bush, Clinton, Bush, majority Democratic congresses, Majority Republican controlled congresses, not just this "this administration".

Why?
Because you can't seal the border, congress won't allocate the money.

And you can't stop companies from providing jobs to undocumented workers, congress is dependent on contributions from the people who profit from that labor.

It's not "this administration" that's refusing to deal with the problem, it's the House GOP that won't consider comprehensive immigration reform.

"it's the House GOP that won't consider comprehensive immigration reform"

Which makes sense. Why put any effort into "what to do with the water in the boat" until you fix the hole in it????

A big government solution like the war on drugs. The magnet is American employers and the Chamber of Commerce who are demanding comprehensive immigration reform. Do me a favor, don't quit your day job hayseed.

Quit using common sense goober. Wing nuts are uncomfortable with that approach. They prefer a big government approach like they used unsuccessfully on the war on drugs.

"comprehensive immigration reform" is liberal double speak for amnesty.
