Oh, I got the message all right. The guy is a statist.

libertarians are generally considered minarchists but there are many flavors
Not even close. No one would accuse the Paul family (Ron or Rand) of being anywhere near anarchism.

This place must drive you nuts.

i have never understood the rand meme
Even though she was highly resentful of the term, Ayn Rand is considered the mother of the modern libertarian movement. (If not the party.) If you need to understand this further, she wrote a delightful novel that will bring you up to speed on the origins of the modern libertarian. The book is "Atlas Shrugged."

And stay away from the movies. They are a joke.

i didn't make it through even the first movie. terrible

i have read rand

she ended up w/ her own fowling Objectivism

Quote:
Rand called her philosophy "Objectivism", describing its essence as "the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."[105] She considered Objectivism a systematic philosophy and laid out positions on metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, political philosophy and aesthetics.[106]

Quote:
Rand's political philosophy emphasized individual rights (including property rights),[117] and she considered laissez-faire capitalism the only moral social system because in her view it was the only system based on the protection of those rights.[4] She opposed statism, which she understood to include theocracy, absolute monarchy, Nazism, fascism, communism, democratic socialism, and dictatorship.[118] Rand believed that natural rights should be enforced by a constitutionally limited government.[119] Although her political views are often classified as conservative or libertarian, she preferred the term "radical for capitalism". She worked with conservatives on political projects, but disagreed with them over issues such as religion and ethics.[120] She denounced libertarianism, which she associated with anarchism.[121] She rejected anarchism as a na´ve theory based in subjectivism that could only lead to collectivism in practice.[122]

and to your statements about the Pauls

Quote:
Minarchism is a libertarian political philosophy which advocates for a particular variety of minimal state that acts only to enforce conditions of capitalism, while all other functions are provided by the free market, like in a laissez-faire economy. Such a state could also be called a minarchy. It is distinct from anarcho-capitalism, in which a de jure state would hypothetically not exist and so the conditions of capitalism would not be centrally enforced.

Different minarchists may disagree about which functions should be exercised by a minimal state and to what extent, therefore there are different models of it. One of them is the night-watchman state, which is commonly defined as a state whose only legitimate function would be the protection of individuals from aggression, theft, breach of contract, and fraud and whose only legitimate governmental institutions would be the military, police, and courts.

Enforcing such laws IS a legitimate function of government. Protecting the nuclear family unit is perhaps the most important job of government since our entire civilization depends on it.

Same sex marriage is nothing more than a mockery of the family unit. It is an attempt for very sick individuals to force society to recognize them as normal when in fact they are NOT.

Conservatives opt for partnership agreements and the protected family. Liberals want to destroy the family. Libertarians pretend the family unit never existed, that the entire history of Mankind was GALT'S GULCH.

Uh, wrong. Human civilization is reproducing at unsustainable levels, and relationships between homosexuals has no impact on that whatsoever. The only compelling interest government has is equal protection under the law.

Uh, wrong again. Same sex marriage is nothing more than two consenting adults enjoying the same benefits as provided opposite sex couples without being discriminated against. Two people who truly love eachother are as normal as anyone else.

Human civilization is DISAPPEARING, thanks to government efforts to destroy the family unit in the past 60 years. (Better known as the WELFARE STATE) You see it in the inner cities all the time. What used to be civilization is now the JUNGLE.

WRONG. Same sex marriage is giving the FINGER to marriage, an institution that has kept human beings from going extinct. Same sex marriage is a way of making PERVERTS appear normal.

There is NOTHING normal, healthy are right about homosexuality. It is a destructive and dangerous lifestyle. Letting those nutbags marry sends the WRONG signal.

The family unit is what we say it is and that definition has been changing for decades. Many same sex couples are legally married so they are NOT giving the finger to marriage. They want to have the same legal rights as every one else. There's nothing wrong with that.

If you look at the population growth rates of First World countries (ie the countries that are seeing the deterioration of the family unit), then you will see that this will most obviously not always be the case. Should the Third World ever reach a point that it is on par with the First World in terms of cultural and economic development, it seems highly doubtful that the human race will continue its current rate of explosive growth.

As of 2013, less than five percent of the population identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. This is, by definition, abnormal. Additionally, it is well within the rights of a clergyman to discriminate based upon the tenets of his religion; if homosexuality is wrong, according to his religious beliefs, then he is under no obligation to facilitate homosexual relations. Not that the State has any business saying who can or can't be married, but it also has no business regulating religion.

The family is the traditional building block upon which society is founded. It is the result of thousands of years of cultural and biological evolution, and discarding it out of hand is foolhardy at best, and catastrophic at worst. Psychologists have long been saying that children that come from a home containing both a mother and a father are far more likely to be psychologically sound than those that come from single parent households or single-sex households; this is nothing new. You can redefine family as often as you like, it still doesn't change the fact that the nuclear family unit is essential to the continuation of Western society, if not human society in general. Indeed, you can redefine Democracy all you like, but it still won't negate the thousands of years of cultural evolution that lead to its development and ultimate adoption across virtually every developed country. In the same manner, no amount of redefinition will ever change the fact that the traditional family unit produces the most psychologically stable human beings, and provides the best framework for producing more of them.

Queers have sick minds that can't be cured even using shock therapy. Lobotomize might work to make them right.

Frankly, the only people afraid of freedom and libertarianism, which is one of many philosophies of freedom, are tyrants, including those tyrants who want to make a man and a woman better against their will.

I am a republican, and not a libertarian, but I am not at all afraid of libertarianism, and I have heard of no reasonable man and woman afraid of libertarianism: those who are afraid of libertarianism are clearly hysterical.

Well, considering the prevalence of sick minds, perhaps the entire general population should be required to undergo shock therapy.

As for lobotomies, modern society lobotomizes hundreds of millions without the need for surgery.
