This strikes me as being a very bold move, somewhat unusual for the normally very conservative, one might almost say reactionary Vatican.

The moves have been criticised by Israel, which says recognition of statehood in this way discourages Palestinians from resuming talks on a final status agreement."Settlements" by Israeli Zionists discourage Palestinians from resuming talks on a final status agreement.
The Israeli Zionists idea of a final agreement retains their ability to bomb, displace, confiscate property and build settlements at will.
The disposition of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations provides a US analog from almost 200 years ago.
