Arab youth see the U.S. as an enemy

The graph's heading was "Do you see the US as an ally or an enemy of your country?"
Survey of 18-24 year olds from 16 Arab countries.

The three points on the horizontal axis are, left to right, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Arab youth now view the United States primarily as an adversary, according to an annual survey of 18-24 year olds in 16 Arab states.

Why it matters: The U.S. has held a presence in many of these countries for years, but the latest Burson-Marsteller Arab Youth Survey reveals a dramatic shift in how youth in the region view America: 57% of those surveyed this year see the U.S. as an enemy, and 35% consider the U.S. an ally. That's almost a complete reversal of the numbers from 2016.

The Trump factor: 73% of Arab youth said President Trump's election has had a negative impact on their countries. And more youth trust Russia than the United States, as the Kremlin builds up its presence in the region.

Asked who their country's top international ally is, the youths were most likely to pick the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, and Egypt. The U.S. fell out of the top five for the first time in the survey's history.

About the survey: 3,500 18-24 years olds from 16 countries were surveyed, with an even split of men and women. Countries included are grouped into the GCC (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE), North Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Lybia, Morocco, Tunisia), and the Levant + Other (Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories).
They figure "the Trump factor". And there's more problem with "more youth trust Russia than the United States".

And I think pulling out of the Iran deal will make things worse.

Pass in review, friends. Pass in review.

Yep, things are going to get worse in the Middle East for the US. The drift set in - probably under Pres. W in the GWOT - back in the heady days when we figured we'd roll right over the enemy, whoever & wherever they might happen to be, if we could just find & fix them.

The US Dept. of State is now a placeholder, even under Obama we reached for drones & Spec Ops before we even tried diplomacy. Trump, TMK, has yet to fill even all the resignations from US ambassadors, envoys & top admin @ State from when he was inaugurated. Nor does Trump seem to attach any importance to the functioning of State nor any other diplomatic efforts.

Dark days gone by, dark days to come.

Wow, who would think that people that we have been sending murder robots to fly over them for the majority if not the entirety of their lives would view the states as an enemy?

Damn, must be trumps fault. Goddamn orange nazi-racist.

Trump has tripled down on the drone attacks. Leaving it almost entirely up to the military to decide what targets and when to launch. Trumps too busy denying his porn star affair and changing lawyers to be bothered with actually engaging with the military on who and where we bomb.

The 2016 result was after 8 years of Obama. I wonder why the US was considered a friend then but not now?

Hmmm.

I'd have thought everyone but the Saudi monarchy and the 'Israeli' Nazis did, rightly.
