I'm beginning to see the light on this tax bill. Just read a NYTimes piece that spells out the hidden provisions in this bill, almost all appeal to the religious Right. No wonder they're so giddy.
As usual the GOP is shoving this legislation through by BUYING votes. If it doesn't cost much, they are adding provisions to the bill. Examples: The 400-plus-page bill released Thursday includes changes that would codify the rights of “unborn children,” allow tax-exempt religious organizations to engage in political activities and impose hurdles for immigrants seeking to claim refundable tax credits.

AND there's a new name for a fetus as described in the bill: "An unborn CHILD in utero".
They certainly get A+ for creativity.
The GOP bill is claiming that political activism, which has been denied in order to keep their tax-exempt status, is unconstitutional.
Maybe someone would like to explain what these provisions have to do with TAXES??

This bill is an absolute disaster.
Thanks from tristanrobin and Camelot

Aren't you forgetting that the workers may be shareholders? The money belongs to the companies. Have you forgotten that?

You make a good point, but NO. I haven't forgotten. I'm ONE of those shareholders, but let's remember that only 50% of this country have stocks, bonds and/or retirement plans like 401Ks. Shouldn't we be concerned about the other 150 million??

You bet your bippy, Jim....and although I would like the world to revolve around me .....IT DOESN'T. There are other people to consider.

This tax bill will be devastating for at least 1/3 of our pop. That's called empathy. You ought to try it some time.

Did you take them to raise? If so, you pay for them. Don't tell others they owe an obligation to anyone other than to themselves and their families. If half of this countries population is not paying taxes and are being subsidized, why then are we importing poverty? My contribution ends when those taking are not helping themselves. And when you have 150 million who are not contributing, there is something very wrong with this issue. It's gone beyond the point of justification and right into the realm of absurd!

HAAAA. Aren't you something else?? "Don't tell others they owe an obligation to blah blah blah". Who died and made you God?

Listen up, BUDDY. You don't get to tell me what I can tell others and what I CAN NOT tell others. Everyone has an obligation to everyone else because you and I don't live on this planet alone. If my neighbor is happy and healthy--if my community is happy and healthy--if my state is happy and healthy--if my nation is happy, healthy and thriving.......>>>>>>>>SO AM I.

I didn't say ANYTHING about 150 million NOT contributing and if you've got proof that 150 adults are not contributing at all to this country and to our tax base, please present it NOW.

p.s. Is this YOUR Christian faith showing? Cuz, if so, it sucks.

On average, what percentage of any large corporations dividend paying stock is owned by the lowest quintile? What about the top quintile? And what about the 1%. And what about other corporations and financial institutions?

Clara....You were educated to teach....My education is in economics.... Taxing the shit out of companies and citizens, more than what is strictly necessary to comply with the necessary (as enumerated in the Constitution) obligations of the Governing body, results in economic stagnation....

Government does not produce wealth, it only uses it up....The free and open commerce of individuals in pursuit of their goals is what produces economic growth, and the tax base necessary to protect it...

How many Rolls Royce models are you planning on buying with all your dividends, Clara?
