Hello, I'm new.

Hey. I just registered, so wanted to put myself out there and perhaps meet some like-minded individuals to debate cases, establish friendship, research projects, etc with.

My name is Laura. I'm 26, living in England, and just beginning my MSc in forensic psychology come October. I also have interests in forensic linguistics and forensic graphology that I hope to gain qualifications in sometime in the future.

I am currently working on a new project/research that some of you might be interested in helping me with. I am looking in to the history, the who, why, when, what, etc of acid attacks across the globe, with particular focus on their increase in western cultures and the psychology behind that.

I am also looking into ideas and options for UK prison reform, and hope to advocate for change when it comes to the convicted warehouse machine that the justice system has become.

I am also an avid lover of books, podcasts, and cats.

Hey Miss Laura, this is a good forum, especially for research projects. This is a full spectrum forum and we have college professors and ignorant morons on board. Welcome Aboard but stand by for heavy rolls to port and starboard.

edit: to protect from acid attack carry a package of baking soda which neutralizes acid

Word of advice, there are DTT rules that have to be obeyed or you get one point. Get ten points and you are forever booted. imaginethat is the moderator and his alter ego is tristanrobin.

edit: pensacolaniceman is the only other moderator and he is a High School Physics teacher and Navy vet. Asimov is a college history professor who plays the French Horn, this forum is a trip. I play the piano and cello. Do you play a musical instrument?

Welcome MissLaura. I am not sure you will read much about acid attacks and prison reform on this forum. But, if you wish to study how personal insecurity translates psychologically into fearful attacks on every group of people except white males, then this site will prove more valuable than university.
Thanks from Twisted Sister and Clara007

Miss Laura, watch out because satire and irony are rampant.

Welcome. You are about to experience an extreme split between the left and right to a degree not seen in Canada or the UK.

I welcome you for personal reasons. Your field of study has been of interest to me ever since a series of discussions with a criminologist some years back changed me from a "hang-em-high" type of person.
Thanks from Camelot

Hi, welcome to the forum where truth is zealously defended, and often ridiculed by a fringe who think they know more but really don't. It's all in keeping up the conversation. I teach history at a 4-year liberal arts college, but I can't convey a great deal of info on chemical weapons, if that's what you mean by "acid attacks." I know sulfer-dichloride (vis-a-vis mustard gas) has been around in Britain and France since George IV, but wasn't officially sanctioned for combat use until deployed by Germans on the Western Front in World War I.
Thanks from Camelot
