What a bunch of BS.

Just because you require some kind of invisible friend to provide you with purpose doesn't mean the rest of us do.

In fact as Einstein said, "“If people are good only because they fear punishment and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.”

Penn Jillette also has an insightful quote on this, "The question I get asked by religious people all the time is, without God, what’s to stop me from raping all I want? And my answer is: I do rape all I want. And the amount I want is zero. And I do murder all I want, and the amount I want is zero. The fact that these people think that if they didn’t have this person watching over them that they would go on killing, raping rampages is the most self-damning thing I can imagine. I don't want to do that. Right now, without any god, I don't want to jump across this table and strangle you. I have no desire to strangle you. I have no desire to flip you over and rape you. You know what I mean?"

Bill Gates doesn't need a God to donate BILLIONS to causes to help his fellow man. Neither does Warren Buffett.

If a belief in God is the only thing keeping you from becoming some kind of sociopathic asshole who only thinks of himself, then by all means keep believing. For the vast majority of atheists we have no problems being good people without relying on some dictates from a fantasy sky daddy.

Well then you should have no problem with all your scientific knowledge proving how we exist so perfectly, in a universe devoid of other life, what made us so special?

That's simply untrue. Nothing uncovered by science has ruled out intelligences greater than ours. Nothing uncovered by science gives the slightest testable clue as to the origin of the universe.

In fact, the position you take has all the same flavors as the confidence of the men of science who knew that the earth, and later the sun, is the center of the universe.

In no way is that any proof of God.

What's your proof of that claim?

Same as your proof God doesn't exist we haven't seen any, see how that got spun around to smack you right in the face.

There are only two logical solutions, either a random quantum mechanical event or an intelligent being created the Universe. Sometimes called the chicken or egg theory with the egg representing a random quantum mechanical event. I personally think the chicken did it but have nothing to back it up except for conjecture.

I did not offer that statement either as proof or evidence. The fact is people decide issues such as this subjectively.
