Our Chula Vista WS LL champs won't be going to Disneyland or Disney World anytime soon. They will be hitting the books. School is here.

Yup, my girls start tomorrow. We have been finishing our summer reading and math projects for the past few days.

Man, my daughter that is in high school, had one project that required a 7 page paper, with all of the supporting info supplied, which made it an 11 page paper. That's for one of her honors classes. If she doesn't have it on the first day, she is dropped from the honors program.

I hate the school year... Because I hate god-damn school buses. It's suburban bullshit. I went to school on the Subway, or a public bus, like civilized people do. And they did not interrupt the flow of traffic.

When you have kids you learn when and where the buses are so you can avoid them

Tad, in my school days until the end of 9th grade in jr. high school, I rode on school buses. But these buses were not the ordinary big school buses. They were for special education students. These kind of buses I rode in from 1960 to 1961 were of the station wagons. Then the (AMC) car makers came out with the International model vehicles, which took place of the station wagons. I rode those beasts from 1961 to 1970. Even there were vans used.

I said they were beasts because I hated them. I rode on those buses with not just hearing handicapped kids, but also physically challenged, mentally challenged, and visually challenged kids.

It was no fun to ride in those beasts. They had square-shaped windows on the driver and passenger's side, and rectangular-shaped windows along the rear, with two doors to the back. The seat belts were just straps from one end of the seat to the other. The belts would not even hold the kids today because of safety regulations.

After 9th grade, I went to the closest high school totally separate from special education, except for speech therapy. But I rode my bike. I walked also, only because some bad person stole my bikes. That happened in my sophomore year. People like that sure are cruel. But after that, no one stole my bike anymore.

1) I will point out I am not in the suburbs by choice. I look forward to getting back to my beloved urban dwelling.

2) My gift to the world is that I will NOT reproduce! LOL

3) I still hate school buses.
