This week's Time magazine cover features Jamie Lynne Grumet, a 26-year-old woman breastfeeding her three-year-old son. Is this extreme parenting?

This child is a bit too old, but the picture is hilarious.

I've no idea why a mom feeding a child should stir any controversy. Yeah, he's three, but I've seen moms feeding older children.

Breasts are cool.

Three is too old unless there is a food shortage. And yes, boobs are awesome.

He looks older than 3....I guess i should change my vote to I am not sure...because I really am not sure. At what age should a child be fully weaned?

I understand there is controversy about this woman because Americans are frightened of tits....which makes me laugh.

Remember how a nano-second flash of Janet Jackson's tit galvanized our nation? Another reason to love The French.

I think that two is definitely the limit. If not sooner, but yeah, beyond that it is just weird.

The "recommended" length of time is 1-2 years, but breastfeeding can continue for as long as mom and baby want. The benefits to the baby are well-known, and the benefits to mom included reduced risk of breast cancer, and osteoporosis.

Live and let live...

The WHO recommends at least two years.

It all depends on where one lives, one's national ancestry, one's working outside of the home or not, one's personal desires and philosophies etc. To each her own. In my opinion two is definitely long enough and it shouldn't really be continued beyond that. And it generally isn't. It's weird if it is, though people are free to live their own lives. But at some point and at a certain age, it becomes more than just weird.
