Are American universities politically biased?

As a generalization, but a valid one based on what I see and read and from my experience and the experiences of friends and co-workers, a majority of professors are liberal. And this shouldn't be too surprising since a majority of them are very cocooned and live a pretty sheltered life. Most have no or little business experience and have had a relatively soft life.

From my personal experience, the two profs I had that were right-wingers were extremely so. And I could never figure out why.

They are thinkers not doers

and when you sit and think you believe that 17 trillion dollars of debt 125 trillion dollars of unfunded liablities is a manageable fiscal status.
