The amendment was actually to stop the import, sale and transportation of alcohol in regards to commerce. It did not ban the possession or consumption of alcohol.

Ok, but I'm looking at things from the perspective of right to liberty and pursuit of happiness - does something violate or infringe upon that in any manner? If yes then that's a problem, etc.

Why do you want to regulate a herb grown in the soil of God's green earth? Say it!

Why should it be illegal?

It isn't any more harmful than alcohol. We have also seen decreases in crime in Denver since cannabis was legalized over there. You should also do research on the effects that drug legalization has had in Portugal.
Thanks from imaginethat and Sabcat

The Navy gave us speed in Nam which kept us awake for days on end. Speed is a man made drug and got me hooked but six years later off the Tiger. You have to ride the Tiger or the Tiger eats you. Crack is worse than Hell.

I believe the Constitution is a outline of what the government can not do, with the purpose of said outline to guarantee the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, as long as none of these violate another persons same rights.

The main reason is that it's what most people want.
That justifies it right there .

Here, it was on the ballot, and it passed 54% TO 46%.
So now it's the law, there's a commission, setting up the regulations, and we go full recreational retail on July 1.

All of Canada goes pot legal in July. There wasn't a referendum, but it was a major plank of Trudeau's campaign. And polls routinely say the majority approves.

I completely agree and also why i believe that the play for the "republicans" is to get this into the courts under the guise of states rights and "loose"

I have never heard an honest case for why it should be illegal. Just because it is is not a good reason to keep it that way IMO.
