Using the word 'chink' IS every bit as offensive as the word 'nigger.'
However, in this instance, Silverman was using it to make a point that using it - even with the word 'love' - was offensive.
The biggest fault with the joke was that it wasn't funny.

I don't find Dave Chappelle funny - I don't find Eddie Murphy funny - I didn't find Don Rickles funny - I don't find ridiculing and demeaning and degrading people funny.

I'm just funny that way.

Some people are actually capable of learning ... and she's learned that perhaps some people laughing at the expense, offense and insulting of others maybe isn't really all that funny in the scheme of things.
