Terri Schiavo

Do you think Terri Schiavo should be kept alive? Terri currently is in a tough condition where she survives by a feeding tube. However clearly she is able to react to objects surrounding her. Doctor's say that over time she may improve to the point where she would no longer need a feeding tube.

What do you think?

The media says this is a right to die case.I disagree. It is a right to live case.

The husband "remembered"she "didnt want to be on a machine"only after he got the insurance settlement. He is a lowclass scum. She responds to outside stimuli and is obviously cognizant of her surroundings.

My opinion is that the husband wants her dead so she cannot get well enough to tell everyone that he tried to kill her.Of course,I could be wrong, butI don't think so.

Don't Do It

Hmm...doesn't the family get a say in what happens to the fate of their daughter/sister? So, since her parents submitted a plea to the Supreme Court to keep her alive, they denied it?? What has this country come to?? I don't know about you, but I blame Dictator George W. Bush...he's not good enough to get the word "President" in front of his name. Republicans...they won't allow abortion but they'll let this innocent person die because they're too lazy to listen to her family????

Kaitlin,welcome to the forum.

Now on to your post.Jeb Bush(R)signed legislation nicknamed Terry's Law last year to have her feeding tube put back in after the liberal judges of Florida allowed the husband to have it removed. The family has been trying to get placement of Terry and her care in her hands for years but the husband keeps fighting to have her "die in peace"(I actually mean to kill her). The President has made his views known but even he cannot make a law to stop this.It is called separation of powers.Congress makes the law, judicial enforces the law.Executive oversees the whole thing but he cannot arbitrarily just put one on the books.Check your history on the subject. The Republicans have been trying to help keep this woman alive. The Democrats have been trying to help the husband kill her.

If he ignored congress, etc and went with keeping her alive...You would call him a dictator who ignores the law.

If he allows the feeding tube to be removed, you call him a dictator who is at fault for her death.

If Clinton was in office, surely his decisions wouldn't matter because he is a democrat.

Dems v. Reps

It's not a war between the Democrats and the Republicans. I am neither, actually, and I see positives and negatives in both parties. I think that both sides, however, have been trying to keep her alive and kill her. George Bush does have power to attempt to pass a law that will change this Supreme Court ruling. Congress does as well, that's how this horrible country operates. We're already divided enough as it is between the two parties, don't make it more than it needs to be.

I just don't get it. There was not enough vote to keep her feeding tube in place so she has already lost 2 meals. So the verdict here is to starve her to death? Just sickening.

If you should vote on something, vote on giving her lethal injection instead of food.
