This is another version of "free speech" means you're free to yell fire in a crowded public venue, but you will be punished for it, but a little more delicate.

In the above example, the consequences follow the act. In the case raised by the cartoon, preventing intolerant speech seems to be the thrust.

That's touchy, but I do agree with the conclusion of the cartoon.

Free speech applies to all of us or for none of us. This is just the price we pay, listening to morons spout bs all day. At least i know i (or anyone of us) can take a controversial stand or make an unpopular comment without having to fear doing time because an opinion rubbed someone or a collective the wrong way.

hate speech comes with its consequences. when those KKK and nazi alt-right assholes marched and threatened fellow Americans, that is extremely destabilizing to the US.

good people, and anyone with common sense, should be able to see we dont need that shit.

I don't think anyone is suggesting legislation to tackle this. It is more suggesting the populous should ignore, disagree and or shout down such things.

It's like one quandary I suffer about university students shutting down some invited speaker. Is not their actions just them exercising their right to free speech? Now the righties here, since they agree with the speakers and think all university students are pinko, commie socialist monsters of course say the speakers are white as the driven snow but the kids are completely wrong and shouldn't have the same rights as other people. But it doesn't make sense.

But then I think that the idiots should be allowed to speak so the world can experience their idiocy.

Another paradox.

the libs dont DARE let Ann, Ben or Milo, or even Dave Rubin speak, cause they make too much sense and will save some of the brainwashed that the lib professors and staff have to have in order to keep their cushy positions.
