Thanks for the reply.
Sensible can be a bit over the top but your reply is patently stupid. How do you make the point that your abject partisanship ISN'T completely divisive?
Thanks from Kelvin

Gun prices went up as well as gun stock. People are arming to the teeth and all I have is a butcher knife because I sold my revolver to my rich neighbor as well as my silver several years ago.
Thanks from Hollywood

Why did it take so long to act?

And it’s actually eating me up inside,” said Bethel. “I just need to go home. That’s my thing. I need to go home to my family. And just process all of this.”

WE hear so much terrible news, particularly about our young people, but the stories are inspiring. They cared for strangers, wrapped their shirts around the wounded, carried them to transport, yelled for help.......on and on. I am so proud of our country right now. During a tragic event, WE THE PEOPLE were unified. We were great....except for one--the shooter.

Just checking and officials in Vegas still have no clear motive or much in detail about the shooter. They say he has no social media profile...and that's as good as being a ghost in this day and age!

Anyway, there's nothing more to go on than a crowd of thousands at an open air concert are sitting ducks for anyone looking to create mass casualties from the 32nd floor of a hotel! So, who knows if he was or was not a country music fan.

That said, I think that if we're asking if country music is just for conservatives these days, we need to take this back to the early days of the radio and record business when there was not a great difference between rural white and black music..especially out of the south. Remember, in the mid-50's Elvis became the first person to have the same songs chart #1 on rock n roll, country and rhythm and blues charts. Star performers who came out of R&B like Chuck Berry, could have done the same thing, but the unspoken difference was that radio, TV and records wanted to preserve the system of racial segregation in music....so, when whites like Elvis started copying Chuck Berry, station managers had to create a new name for it...and so rock n roll was born!

Now, looking at who is and who is not a country music artist and it's been pretty damn obvious that country was intended to be the all-white branch of the music industry. Consider that the guy who revolutionized country music back in the early 50's- Hank Williams, learned the blues down south when he started playing guitar at age 13 for blues singers. Put a white face on the blues...and that became most of country music for the next 30 years.

Now, after a period in the 70's and 80's, when new country music performers were sidestepping the monopoly Roy Acuff had set up in Nashville at the Opry and owning most of the nation's country music stations, the "California Sound" a rock-country hybrid and Texas and Southern rock...that had been shut out by Nashville were moving in adding new styles and influences, and in general trying to liberalize country music's image.

And then, along came this shit in the 90's called "Bro Country"...drop your voice an octave to sound macho, write songs bragging about your chicks, guns, trucks, drinkin, and even make a video showing off your mansion(rent one for the weekend if you don't actually own one)...and we can see inspiration from gangsta rap and hip hop.....though they'd never admit it, and anyone my age can't distinguish a country song from any other pop music crap these days from the opening bars. The worst of these clowns has to be Toby Keith- who discovered after 9-11 if you churn out songs about soldiers, terrorists, patriotism and Ah-Mur-ica....you can make a shitload of money with modest talent!

And that's why I don't really listen to any new country music anymore. After bro- country and especially Toby Keith and his clones, wrapping themselves in the flag, if country wasn't just for white conservatives before, it sure as hell seems to be now!
