In fact, at various points, Republican donor and activist Betsy DeVos seemed to have thin knowledge about key issues facing the department she would lead in Trumpís administration.
To start, when asked for her thoughts on using test scores as a measure of student proficiency or growth by Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken, DeVos didnít seem to understand the difference, much less provide an informative response about which she would prioritize as head of the Department of Education.
Then there's the whole Students with Disabilities Act. In fact, Betts was 'confused' about that whole thingy. Hmmm....She'll get BACK to us on that.
Let me translate: I HAVE NO IDEA what that is although I'm about to take the reigns of oh....about.....100,000 public schools. It's gonna be AWESOME, Betsy Babe.

Maybe we are getting one step closer to getting rid of the department of education.

That gives me a warm fuzzy.

She did great. She did not have firm answers to questions regarding areas the federal government has no business being involved in. Bravo for her. She will be taking over a department that has orchestrated the decline of public education.

Hopefully she and Trump have a plan to burn that malignant department to the ground. If they do that, then education can be great again.

She did great?? Obviously your definition of "GREAT" and my definition of great are polar opposites. Betsy stammered and stuttered--hemmed and hawed--because she didn't do her homework. She's completely unqualified and unfit to be Queen of Ed. You are correct. She did NOT have firm or unfirm answers regarding much of anything, including the federal government's role in this nations public schools....and if she burns the malignant department to the ground SHE'S out of a job and so are millions of others.......so I really don't think that's going to happen. Glad you used the word "hopefully" because at least you've got enough sense to know there's a chance Ms. Devos will fall flat on her face.
Shutting down or burning down the Dept of Ed requires an act of congress. It's not going to happen...but of course you believe Dirty Don--the man who has no idea what he's talking about and turns on a dime.
Here's an idea. Go talk it over with a grizzly bear....somewhere in Wyoming, but be sure to take your gun.

Any practical, logical reason the DOE should go or is it more originalist bullshit?

NOPE--not Trump--at least not today! But Twitter DID LIGHT UP!

It's Betsy Devos!! Our Secretary of Education nominee! During her confirmation hearing as the nominee for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos was asked by Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., whether guns belong in American schools.

The West Michigan native's response? It's an issue "best left to locales and states to decide."

She then added - citing an elementary school in Wyoming that Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., had mentioned earlier in the hearing - that educators may need "a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies."

So, put on your coonskin cap and watch this, my friends! You just can't make up this stuff. HILARIOUS!

Grizzly bears? The most awkward moments of Betsy DeVos' hearing

She's a bigger threat to Wyoming schools than grizzly bears.

What's a bigger menace to students: Betsy DeVos or a grizzly bear?
