Lions and Tigers and Bears--OH MY!

Well, after a very DULL beginning to our cabinet hearings, we've finally got part of the 3 Ring Circus we've been waiting for.....and who is in the center ring??
NOPE--not Trump--at least not today! But Twitter DID LIGHT UP!

It's Betsy Devos!! Our Secretary of Education nominee! During her confirmation hearing as the nominee for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos was asked by Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., whether guns belong in American schools.

The West Michigan native's response? It's an issue "best left to locales and states to decide."

She then added - citing an elementary school in Wyoming that Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., had mentioned earlier in the hearing - that educators may need "a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies."

So, put on your coonskin cap and watch this, my friends! You just can't make up this stuff. HILARIOUS!

Grizzly bears? The most awkward moments of Betsy DeVos' hearing

Thanks from skews13

I've seen some weird things wandering down the halls of the various schools I have attended but in spite of spending most of it in the home of more grizzlies than anywhere else in Canada, a grizzly bear is not one of them.

So you don't think it should be up to the community to decide how they wish to be governed?

Bears are scary. When I lived in the mountains we always carried a gun.

Left-wing paraphrasing.

DeVos:

"I would imagine that there is probably a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies.
There are over 14,000 school districts in the US. Perhaps the hearings should be put on hold until Trump can nominate a candidate who knows everything about each one of the 14,000 school districts.

It is interesting that some rural schools in Wyoming have tall fences to keep out bears.

Not any more. If you are in bear country it is a crime to keep garbage in a non-bear proof container. That has virtually eliminated the problem.

Oh little Ms. Betsy's got lots more issues than grizzlies. Even after more than three hours of questioning before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Tuesday night, we didnít learn much about Donald Trumpís nominee for Secretary of Educationís actual views on education.
In fact, at various points, Republican donor and activist Betsy DeVos seemed to have thin knowledge about key issues facing the department she would lead in Trumpís administration.
To start, when asked for her thoughts on using test scores as a measure of student proficiency or growth by Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken, DeVos didnít seem to understand the difference, much less provide an informative response about which she would prioritize as head of the Department of Education.
Then there's the whole Students with Disabilities Act. In fact, Betts was 'confused' about that whole thingy. Hmmm....She'll get BACK to us on that.
Let me translate: I HAVE NO IDEA what that is although I'm about to take the reigns of oh....about.....100,000 public schools. It's gonna be AWESOME, Betsy Babe.

Logical. Could be like that now. It's been like 20 years.

I still can't eat bear from living out there.
