So sick of Trump's election being a "sign" of something.

Less than 1/4 of the population even voted - and less than 1/2 of THEM voted for Trump.

It's a sign that nobody gives a shit about anything.

That's how they won. Trump winning is only a sign that resentment and bigotry are still the dominant American values.

NIMBY is the number one motivation for the white conservative voter. That's how Trump won with the anti immigration message.

Populism is the number one motivation for everyone else. That's how Obama won with 50% of the vote twice, with the hope message.

What happens to these projections when the gop fails to deliver
Jobs, affordable health care or any of the other things that they have promised?

Nothing will change. The republicans vs democrats is an antiquated POV. The issues will be Liberty vs government intervention.

Maybe in a hundred years, but in this century it's going to be Republicans and Democrats for the next couple of dozen elections at least.

Oh, unless you want to count Rand Paul as a Libertarian....

Not in the way that you see it. Things are changing very quickly. The state cannot keep up w/ technology. the new generations have been born w/ the Internet they don't fall for the same fake news, they are used to having access to information instantaneously. The facade is crumbling. Once the baby boomers are covered in dirt we can also say good bye to broadcast news, news papers, the legacy media s perceived monopoly on information. Do you really think people will still care about arbitrary things like republicans and democrats? What you think of as "socially liberal" is not even an issue for most of my generation, millennials are making fools of themselves fighting battles that have long been won. Gen Zed just won't care. It will just be a part of life. The issues will be on freedom of information and personal liberties. Nationalism and globalism.

Can you supply an example of a politician anywhere in the world who has won office on a platform of personal liberties?
And after you find one, can you supply an example of a political body anywhere in the world with a majority that has been elected on a platform of personal liberty?

Nope, that is exactly my point. can you provide an example of a presidential term where the powers of the state did not grow and infringe upon the personal liberties of the people?

It has not been working and is becoming more and more obvious every day. This is the beauty of the combination of today's leadership and the flow of information.
