Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, and Adm. Michael S. Rogers, head of the National Security Agency, instead told a Senate committee that they didn't feel pressured to do anything improper.

The carefully-worded denials appeared aimed at drawing a distinction between being asked by Trump to influence an ongoing investigation, and feeling pressured to do so.

It sounds to me that your upset because Admirial Rogers and Dan Coats did not say what YOU wanted them to say.

Here you are implying that is what happened without any facts to demonstrate it.

Since this did not provide you with the desired facts you attempted to make it seem less credible using the term carefully worded. I think it says what it says. Those men answered a question and you did not like the answer. The truth is nothing but a fact. Facts are not convenient nor inconvenient. They are what they are.

Well, first of all, I'm not implying anything. The article has taken actual quotes, text, and video of the committee's inquiry. Secondy, this article wasn't written BY ME and the concerns are coming from the committee who interviewed the Admiral and Coats. The piece was written by the LA Times. The two people interviewed were asked repeatedly to answer questions with a YES or NO. They refused.

From Politico: Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller to the role, tangled with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) at one point over how much independence Mueller would have. Rosenstein also pledged — without mentioning the president directly — that any plausible claim of obstruction of justice will be run to ground.

“If anybody obstructs a federal investigation, it would be a subject of concern, I don’t care who they are,” Rosenstein declared.
Senators’ frustration with their inability to get straight answers boiled over repeatedly.

“Your unwillingness to answer a basic question speaks volumes,” Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) said after Coats refused to illuminate the committee on his interactions with Trump.

Yes, it does, Senator Heinrich. Yes it does.

AND just to be clear.....these are ALL FACTS and can be substantiated by numerous videos of the inquiry.
Thanks from RNG

The testimony appeared to bolster the case of Trump critics who believe that the President may have obstructed justice and abused his power in his dealings with Comey, who he later fired.
Comey said that Trump asked him to drop FBI investigations into Flynn centering on his calls with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the transition, which eventually led to his dismissal as national security adviser after it emerged he had lied about the conversations to Vice President Mike Pence.

He wrote that Trump said: "'I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go."
"I replied only that 'he is a good guy.'" Comey wrote, describing a private meeting with Trump in the Oval Office, then added: "I did not say I would 'let this go.'"

Comey said in his testimony that he understood the President to be requesting that he drop the investigation into Flynn. But he says he did not understand Trump to be referring to the wider Russia investigation.

President Donald Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey if he could help make it known that he was not personally under investigation, adding that the two had "that thing" between them, according to a Comey's opening statement for Thursday's highly anticipated testimony.

Comey said is hearsay. Audio tapes can be altered ref the 18 minute gap. Find the perp is what I say. My identity got stolen and am pressing it to find the perp which is cost prohibitive but I got nothing better to do than hunt down the criminal and prosecute.

The fact is they swore an oath to the Senate that confirmed them to tell the truth.

They can be held liable for their willfull witholding of the truth in a Congressional hearing under oath.

That will become exponentially more true in that closed classified hearing where the felony penalties are even more severe.

Lying under oath is perjury and a felony. Identity theft and/or fraud is also a felony.

The "thing" was Trump rubbing Comey's knee under the table.
