How Trump Could Lose His Base

John F. Kelly, President Trumpís new chief of staff, is focused on ending chaos in the White House. Given that his boss is the self-disrupter in chief, good luck with that.

And Trump worldís vicious backstabbing is not, in any event, the administrationís most important problem. A devotion to lying is a far graver danger to this presidency, and military efficiency will not dispel it.

The Postís report, essentially confirmed by the White House, that the president was the prime mover behind Donald Trump Jr.ís misleading statement about his meeting with a Russian lawyer peddling derogatory information about Hillary Clinton ratifies the pattern of deceit and misdirection on all matters Russian. Behaving as if you are guilty wonít convince others that you are innocent.

The president seems convinced that he can survive whatever comes his way as long as he keeps his much-celebrated political base with him. But this is not as easy as it sounds for either Trump or his party because his base is fundamentally divided.

Nothing illustrated this more dramatically than the health-care showdown. Trumpís rhetoric about the Affordable Care Act during last yearís campaign should have been a tipoff to the dilemma both he and conservative politicians confront now. On the one hand, he roundly denounced Obamacare, which made right-wing ideologues happy. But he also regularly promised an alternative that would be more, not less, generous in helping Americans of modest means. Read more:

We have not seen the 'defections' here on DTT, but more moderate Republicans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the WH circus and the daily debacles.

Chump's base consists of a bunch of whiny, insecure snowflakes. They can never bring themselves to admit that they voted for a jerkoff who displayed during 18 months of campaigning just how unfit he was for the Office. These Wingnuts will go down with the ship IMO.

Pot says.

You are such a spineless little moist spot. You cried when people misspoke of O-bomber when he was (a terrible)POTUS. After you postured and peacocked about Clinton's inevitable victory you melted in shame for months. Now you have only returned for drive by snide comments and empty trolls.

Camel writer,

Where do you keep your bleach?

The healthcare thing was beautiful. It proved that the republicans in congress were only posturing for years that they wanted to repeal obamacare. This is something that many of us who have the ability to see through the facade of government suspected. They were using Obama and the democrat control as an excuse. There is little to no difference between establishment Rs and Ds. They want to expand the reach of the federal government both local and global. They want war and taxes. They need sheep and lemmings to believe that there not only is a difference but that their side gives a shit about them. They do not.

The future is comming.

AND again, Johnny One Note, we thank you for your succinct, yet brilliant analysis of how our government "done us wrong". Stink, Stank, Stunk.

Just keep singin' the blues, Johnny.

p.s. Remind us again just WHY you continue to live in this hell hole of a nation??

Who wrote this little blues tune? Was it Obimbo and the DNC choir? I don't think there are too many Americans snapping their fingers and dancing along with this ACA tune. Tell us why the DNC would rather see Americans live in a hell whole and keep us dancing to their corrupt tune.

Do you deny that the state is corrupt?

If not are you content to live in the corruption?

This nation was built on personal liberties. People came here and still do in hopes to escape tyrannical governments. The better question imo is why all of you leftests did not migrate to Venezuela? I can trace by bloodlines here in the states back to the 1400s at least, how about you?
Thanks from caconservative and Sensible

BTW, SOME people arrived here in chains, slaves.

What organization is NOT corrupt to one degree or another?

Really, the 1400's? You are of native American ancestry?
"In the states..." or in that portion of North America that would one day become the United States?
