But let's start with her "Prosperity Gospel"--the idea that certain Christians (if they give generously to the church) will prosper personally---and deserve it. You've probably heard the phrase "all good gifts around us come from heaven above".
Let's proceed to issue numero dos. White proclaimed Trump is "raised up by God" and then she compared him to Queen Esther...while she was a guest on the JIM BAKER SHOW. Jim.Baker.
Moving on. In 2007 White and several other "prosperity pastors" became the focus of an investigation because they refused to provide financial disclosures and seemed to be rolling in dough. Hint: Churches are non-profits.
AND....meanwhile, back at the White mansion, trouble brewed in paradise the Whites marriage ended, Paula's son became a drug addict and Paula started cranking out books proclaiming things like “Anyone who tells you to deny yourself is from Satan”.

I'm not surprised that Trump sought out Paula White. After all, she's beautiful. She's wealthy. She's successful....must be all that praying...but here's the thing. The pastors I have known and worked with don't live in a mansion. They live in a parsonage or get a housing allowance. They don't seek fame or power or money or presidential prestige.
Apparently gone are the days of my childhood--the days of the "Love your neighbor" gospel. The message of peace and unity has disappeared from the altar.
Welcome to the Trump-era, where each American is seen as either an ally or an enemy. Winners and losers. Most of us will be classified as losers.
I've tried to explain to a few clueless boobs...which include educated atheist-humanists who have this Sam Harris-inspired ranking for good and bad religions that all religions, regardless of how much they claim to follow old written sources, still reflect the wants, desires and aspirations of the present day leaders. And nothing could be more illustrative of this effect than the rise of Prosperity Gospel(bless the rich/damn the poor) theology during the extreme stages of capitalist America. Prior to this upside down theology created by cherry-picking their way through the Great Book of Multiple Choice, rich people had to keep their heads down in church and make sure they were generous to get a pass from the priest or minister that they were still in good standing and not on the Seven Deadly Sins list.

No surprise that when prosperity gospel-blessed be the rich preaching started in California back in the 1920's, they became showered with more money than they knew what to do with from the likes of Cecil B DeMille and other noveau riche Californians. They became the first radio gospel preachers and turned American Christianity into a different religion...using the nationalist claim of "Godly Nation" and bullshit about riches being signs of God's blessings here on Earth/with the converse being a sign that you're out of favor with God! There is a whole lot of the Bible dealing with money, wealth, rich and poor that has to be ignored or attempted to explain away to make it all work.

But, making someone like Donald Trump a Christian leader requires another step: he and similar jackoffs have to be explained to the flock with the excuse that "God often chooses imperfect vessels to carry out His divine plan." And Trump is about as imperfect as you can get; but for me that's why I don't bother trying to reason with the rightwing fundagelical sort about biblical interpretations, cause they're still going to find ways to squeeze Donald Trump and Roy Moore through that 'head of a pin!'

The Christian Right is going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this Paula phrase:

They say about our president, 'Well, he is not presidential.' Thank goodness. Thank goodness. Thank goodness," White said. "And I mean that will all due respect. Because in other words, he is not a polished politician. In other words, he is authentically - whether people like it or not - has been raised up by God."
"Because God says that He raises up and places all people in places of authority," she continued. "It is God who raises up a king. It is God that sets one down. When you fight against the plan of God, you are fighting against the hand of God."

There you have it. Trump is "AUTHENTIC". AND apparently "a king". Oh, and BTW.....Trump LOVES prayer. Then Paula launched into the mind-numbing "we were on the verge of losing what we call religious liberties".
Acknowledging some may think she's crazy for such a perspective, White contended that there is an "enemy" that is working to "abolish and annihilate" God's will and purpose for America.
AND this will sound familiar because we've heard it ad nauseam here on DTT: "I am here to the tell the truth." Yes, Paula. You are here to tell us YOUR truth...just like everyone else who SPEAKS FOR GOD....just like the Pharisees and money changers.

AND Jesus said: "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."
