gotcha.
Here's why I don't think there will be an impeachment or a coup.

There is a huge amount of, call it inertia, in the system.
There is a trajectory, that has an inevitability to it.
Now if you're a Republican, you are a long way off from impeaching Trump, because you see this as an opportunity to get a presidential signature on whatever you can get through, even if you are having a hard time getting stuff through now, it will probably be harder after the 2018 elections, so why queer the deal, with an impeachment.
If the Democrats take the House, a very real possibility, they might be able to impeach Trump, but no way they get to 67 votes in the Senate, so it's a non starter, that go down fighting for something that was never even a possibility just isn't the Democratic way.

And as far as a coup goes, there's already pushback from the professional government staff and the military, they aren't going to abandon the constitution for Trump, he's not very popular with the people, and even less popular with the professional managers in the government.

The difference between Trump and say Hugo Chavez, was that Hugo Chavez could get 80% of the vote, so his party dominated every level of the government, he had every supermajority he needed. He could amend the constitution at will, because if he needed a 75% supermajority for a constitutional amendment, it was right there in place.

Trump can't get a simple majority vote through a Republican congress.
He is just not in the position to stage a coup.
He might like to, he might want to, but if gives the orders, I think they'll be refused by a military that cannot imagine a scenario where a Trump Coup is successful for more than a day or two, and that's a not a career option for a guy looking for a 30 or 40 year career.

But what are the odds of a coup AGAINST the Republican President?

When I read the OP title that's what I thought it would be about.

[QUOTE=imaginethat;1125505]Other than being a mediocre smart ass, you haven't done anything for me or anyone else on this thread, except for maybe tickling your echo chamber mates' fancies.

Here's my take:

Quote:
Point 1 - Spot on. Trump has cultivated the idea that only he speaks the truth.
But then again, you dont have anyone on your side of the aisle who is telling the truth or not grabbing ass
Quote:
Point 2 - Spot on. We see it every day on DTT: Delegitimizing the media, “Whataboutism,” and trolling.
Sure thing. All the time. John Oliver is very legitimate in regards to Trump.

Quote:
Point 3 - His leaving large numbers of appointed seats vacant supports this point.
Saves money. Less bureaucrats the better.
Quote:
Point 4 - The American Reichstag? We all know we could wake up tomorrow and see it in the news.
No, we dont.

Quote:
Point 5 - An external threat to boost internal popularity. We saw it with GW.
Quote:
America dropped 26,171 bombs in 2016. What a bloody end to Obama's reign

Quote:
Point 6 - Speculation but not wild speculation.
If it makes you soothe your year ago loss

Quote:
Point 7 - Things to consider.
Not really

No one is going to toss the constitution over this freak. The Dems should do very well in the 2018 elections, that's the coup. He hasn't got shit through congress yet, and were halfway to the mid terms, and political situation is going to be tougher for Trump after the mid terms than it is now.

Get through that, and 2020 looms, I don't see a tsunami of legislation making it's way to Trump's desk.

And if the Democrats win in 2020, they can reverse everything the GOP has done with reconciliation, with reconciliation. Everything Trump has done with executive order can be undone with executive order.
Thanks from RNG

Change is coming to congress and NOT in ways we expected. Rumors about John McCain's health and possible retirement are on the local news. He's not doing well. If McCain steps down (and he WILL because of the glioblastoma) Gov. Ducey will appt an interim GOP senator--okay fine. But in the next AZ election Mark Kelly is expected to run against whomever Ducey appts. My prediction is that Kelly will win--hands down.
There are other situations like this around the country.

....and you also "predicted" Hillary would win, hands down.
