Drugs are inanimate objects, chemical compounds. Never heard of one jumping off a shelf and injecting itself into the body of an innocent that just happened to be walking by. They can of course, be abused and misused by people. people are the problem and not drugs.

Arguement sound familiar kid?

Yeah, the difference is guns are tools with a variety of legitimate uses. All recreational drugs are good for is helping you run away from your problems.

Parsing drugs into recreational, medical, psychotropic, psychedelic, narcotic, makes statistics but leaves open the question: Are drugs in general a "legitimate" use of inner technology to force body/mind processes? Few have any overall problem with an affirmative answer to the question when the choice is between life or death or some other point on the continuum.

In that sense, the life or death continuum sense, drugs, like guns, can be used as tools with a variety of legitimate uses.

Or not....

You are right, Lyzza. The death penalty (IMO) is not a penalty. Spending a lifetime in jail IS A PENALTY.

The war on drugs is a joke. It has turned out JUST LIKE prohibition. Tell people they CAN'T have something and they will want it. Then they will find a way to get it.

No difference at all. They are STILL just objects, as I said. I didn't say a word about RECREATIONAL drugs. Pretty much ANY drug can be USED AS a recreational drug regardless of what it was "designed" for or it's original use was. *shrug*

The real argument, I think, is that an intolerable society demands ways out. If you get rid of the drugs you are voting for suicide, which is probably the logical corollary of forced birth for the unwanted.

What is a "drug pusher" anyway? I have done illicit drugs for well over thirty years (now just pot and hash) but was in the bad shit around twenty years ago and was addicted and went to several rehabs.

But I never saw a drug pusher. A pusher is someone who is trying to unload something on you. When I wanted dope, I went to the dope man and got it, much like if I want ice cream, I go to the store and buy it, the store doesn't come to me and pushes it on me. I have a weed dealer now (sort of a middle man really). If I never call the dude, he won't come looking for me. If I was smoking crack again, I know where to get it, the dope guy isn't going to find me or other potential idiots hawking their stuff. Please.

The drug companies really need to be brought down with strict liability laws on their products. The reason for the opiate "epidemic" is because these bastards and their dope pushers called doctors are giving this shit out like candy and people get hooked, and people who do get hooked move on to heroin because it is cheaper. Fentanyl, where does this crap come from? Why is it on the street? Fentanyl has a medical use and should be used under a medical setting, but it has escaped the lab and is on the street and relatively easy to find.

It's the drug companies, not the nickel bag "pusher" who needs punishment.
