Believe me the Mississippi does not flow through ANY PART of the State of NY.
Yes, I know the Mississippi River does not go through New York state.
It connects the Northeast to markets in the midwest. That is all that is important.
It was built to connect New York to markets in the mid west via the great lakes and inland rivers. Goods moved BOTH ways you know.

this allowed imports from Canada and travel to and from Upstate NY and to Ohio to be easier.

So, your premise about the Causes of the Civil War is incorrect.

(Slavery was an issue) but the Real Issue was Taxation
What "premise" of mine concerning the cause (as IF their were only one!) are you talking about?

Give me your explanation of the difference between "an issue" and "the REAL issue." How do you measure it?

Slavery was an Issue, the Issue that brought on the war was taxation.

But as I stated, your, own post was filled with inaccuracies. the Erie Canal was one, and Slavery being the driving force of the war was the other.

You see Lincoln Said he would not end slavery in order to preserve the Union.

Even when Lincoln freed the slaves, he only Freed the slaves in the States that were in rebellion, NJ, Delaware Maryland KY and Misssouri remained slave states.

That is what the person you were responding to was saying, and you were saying he was wrong.

By saying he was wrong about Slavery being the driving force of the war, was you saying it was.

Seriously dude, are you high on something?

Look at what you just wrote, "By saying he was WRONG about slavery being the driving force of the war, was you saying it was." Explain how that makes the slightest fucking sense.

I have never understood the motivation of right wingers who try to separate slavery from the Civil War ? Could it be subconscious racism ?
Thanks from Lyzza
