Yes! Actually it is a very good example of capitalism, or more accurately, the capitalist state taking action to "socialize" the risks and costs of capitalism so that the profits can be privatized and maximized. And the government "sells" it to us as "doing it for the public" and "a public good".

Public education? They aren't paying for someone else's kid. Public libraries? They aren't paying for someone to read their books. National/public Parks? Sell them. Police and Fire? Privatize them. Infrastructure? Leave it to the states. Social Security/Medicare: Throw them out. Public transportation? Get a car.
The military?? Who needs 'em. Social programs? Pppffft! ONLY the strong survive.
But we need to see why "the party of NO" says and does what they do. They would love us to believe it's just a case of them being imperfect, uninformed, and misguided so that they can cut away all they can from the people in order to give more and more to the rich without doing so much damage to the national debt and then catch hell for it.

It's class warfare against us, and they're winning.

.
socialism is ok but the people in society must participate in the government. this because the people must tell the government what they will do. if the people do not participate in the government then the government will be rule by communist

Look. My whole family is conservative and I've never figured out WHY they think what they think or DO what they DO. They LOVED--ADORED Dubya. My Southern belle mother had an 8 x 10 glossy of Geo W on her kitchen bulletin board. She and her two sisters voted for Reagan "because he's so good-lookin'".... so don't ask me to understand how their brains work--or don't work.
My dad's side had an interest in OIL....so that was their reasoning.

The class warfare will pass. It's a phase, IMHO, and I'm just trying to hold on till the mid-terms. Fingers crossed.

@Clara

Is this not simply a personal admission to a failure of empathy?

Socialism isn't Evil.. it is corrupt. Because it must have power over thepeople (it does so in increments) until it absolute.

Power Corrupts, Absolute power corrupts absolutly
