Things the Two Parties Have In Common in one handy chart:

From the picture's worth a thousand words department, this is why the Democrat vs Republican game is more useless and pointless than anything going on in sports:

The diagram is missing "Claim God is on their side" right in the middle.

Actually, this was a Gallup poll taken this week and the divide between the right and left is most pronounced (except when it comes to birth control and adultery).

Thanks from Kate

I wouldn't put that claim in the middle of the diagram, because almost everyone on the right makes some kind of claim of being on God's side (even Trump!), but few Democrats have invoked God or religious faith in any serious manner since the 70's!

In earlier times, many Democrats were on the actual left, and invoked what's often referred to as the "Christian social gospel" in the arguments about issues like poverty and helping the poor, in the manner that Martin Luther King and other prominent clerics on the left did years ago.

But, when is the last time that happened in the Democratic Party? It may change if the Bernie Sanders-inspired 'Justice Democrats' or 'Our Revolution' Democrats and assorted infiltrators from the DSA are able to take over local Democratic offices and turf out the corrupt centrist Dems who have run the Party since the 80's, but as of now, the only...occasional Democrat making these arguments has been Bernie Sanders himself...who is Jewish by heritage and culture, but seems to be an atheistic secular Jew who frames his arguments in economic terms and fairness/but not using any divine reference points.

When it comes to appeals to faith on the left, the most prominent voice that's even a hair's breadth from the Democratic Party is North Carolina NAACP chief- Rev. William Barber, who organized the 'Moral Mondays' marches and demonstrations outside the capitol building, and makes it clear he is trying to start a class revolution, rather than the typical black nationalist movements that categorize everything by race.

I notice that there are no economic issues in that Gallup survey, or foreign policy, so the point of the Venn diagrams I found regarding Democrats and Republicans stands!
