Not if the woman is Michelle Bachman....

I'm curious. If the women representatives don't support your views 95% of he time, even though their interest is in representing their constituency and the country to the very best of their abilities. Would you still think it is important for them to participate?

Yeah, this is how it ought to be.

Given the premise that political positions have been and are still dominated by men, this may be a reasonable position to hold for an issue such as the gender pay gap (personally I'm a bit skeptical of this claim, but I am totally open to considering any data/evidence that backs it up); however, if we look at the child custody issue, specifically the notion that the legal system is biased in favor of mothers over fathers (https://dadsdivorce.com/articles/jud...child-custody/), having political positions dominated by men doesn't seem to help men at all - does it?

This child custody example could suggest that it's possible for things to become "backwards" is some way that doesn't favor women, with more women in political positions; on the other hand (and what I lean more towards believing), it might not have anything to do with the fact that political positions are dominated by men - or women, but rather a discrepancy between political platforms.

I have been supportive of plenty of women candidates and public servants, even one who's probably more socialist than Bernie Sanders (and an ethnic minority, if you want to include that detail) - Cynthia McKinney. Neither the fact that she's a woman nor an ethnic minority is a factor in determining why I'm supportive of her, and I'm very much not a big fan of socialism at all; in McKinney's case it has to do with important issues that supersede even something like political stance.

That would be a contradiction.

well first, idk any candidates that share my views let alone support them anywhere near 95% of the time

clearly i dont agree with all women, just like guys dont agree with all guys. we are not some monolithic bloc after all. just like you, we are individuals with our own values, beliefs, goals etc. however, that said, i would still love to see women start flooding into government positions all across the country. the huge disparity in gender for elected officials is kinda staggering when you consider the ratio of men to women in this country. seriously.

oh and by the way, i have voted for candidates from these parties that i can remember: Greens, Dems, Reps, Libertarians, Independents, i think thats it idk. so no, i dont just vote by party, but by candidate and platforms.
Thanks from Panther

A Record Number of Women Have Filed to Run for U.S. House Seats, Most of Them as Democrats

No doubt encouraged by our heinous, misogynist leadership, a record-breaking number of women have filed candidacy papers to run for United States House of Representatives seats in the upcoming midterm elections.

The Associated Press reported on Thursday that 309 women across the United States have filed to run, beating out the previous record of 298, which was set during the 2012 election. And, more good news: so far Democratic women candidates running in the 2018 election cycle outnumber Republican women candidates 3-to-1, which is the highest ratio recorded in a congressional election year dating back to 1992, according to Mother Jones.

We're having a special election right now in AZ for the Trent Franks seat (another naughty boy--who got caught). Both the candidates are women: Dr. Hiral Tiperneni and Debbie Lesko who has been caught with her fingers in the till. AZ has been a red state FOREVER so I don't hold out much hope for Dr. Hiral, but so far she seems to be getting a toe-hold.

When are people going to support the non-politicians who we desperately need in D.C.?
Thanks from Lyzza
