The new dawn includes throwing out the old PC and implementing the "Hate Fest"--go for the jugular. Respect is nonsense. Namecalling and stereotyping are BACK--with a vengeance. Throw a tantrum. Use the vocabulary of a 12 year old boy....you know...things like "Are you mentally retarded?" "You are a stupid-head." "LOSER."
Violence is back. Donald J. Trump has appealed to the raw anger of voters and encouraged crowds at rallies to use force against protesters who are disruptive. Beat the crap out of 'em! And Sabcat wants to bash safe spaces??
Maybe we need reminders about the importance of safe spaces. There's a history to safe spaces and some safe spaces have been around a long long time.
Example: AA. Alcoholics Anonymous is a safe space. People who have had issues with alcohol go there and there is zero chance that anybody is going to take their issue lightly, and if somebody decided to be an asshole with respect to an attendee's alcoholism, they get kicked out. Basically everybody (including me) thinks that this safe space is legitimate.
How about religious groups? Campus Crusade for Christ, Jewish Foundations. Gender diversity groups--women's groups. Identity Groups. Political groups. Academic fraternities. How about LIBRARIES? THOSE are safe spaces.
This is nothing new, just because we've labeled them 'safe spaces'. There is a time and place for 'growing as a person' and growing up. It's called the real world--the working world--becoming a responsible adult with a spouse and family to support.
And why should we condemn when, where and how someone else wants to spend their time, especially during their formative years..?
This tough love, John Wayne, man-up, grown-up, pull yourself together conservative crap is for the birds. Leave the kids alone and stop being such meanie-weanies....you peepee cuckoocuckoo birds--I hope gummy bears poop in your hair.
Thanks from tristanrobin, Daws77 and Kipper

Very nice read actually.

John Wayne was a super cowboy warrior.

From the 1800s time.

Intelligent people never think of education as worthless.

A degree is something which is public recognition of completing a given course of study. It is not supposed to be a straight line avenue to well-salaried positions (though they often are).

Education is rewarding for the people receiving it, not the people around them.

If this is a concept you cannot grasp, then an education is not something that you need concern obtaining.

LOL - well, he often played a cowboy from that time period in the movies.

But he was a 20th century actor. He lived from1907 to 1979.

John Wayne was a over rated B movie actor who never served in the military.
He was all blow and no go.

This was in the making long before Trump. Government has really pushed the citizens along with the states, taken over liberty and drove it into the sewer. As we sit today our own laws and regulations that govern us can not be quantified in numbers.

Meaning at some point a Republican democracy leaves and socialist way of life takes over and this is the point we are at.

Like you I also have a say (For now) on the way our tax dollars are spent, funding ultra progressive universities is akin to putting a knife to my own throat.

History has shown us that government creating protected classes and pitting one against the other leads to destruction regardless of good intentions or beliefs.

I can only suggest to you and others is to put some effort in to becoming "more so" self efficient.

As the world moves quicker, it leaves many behind. It is up to the individual to figure out how to survive and thrive or die on the vine, not government or safe spaces. Safe Spaces by nature create isolation and division.

And Clara007, you are not above stereotyping and name calling, I have been reading post here for a good 8 months or so....and the post below exhibits such.

The pendulum keeps moving.

Again you have missed the point and most likely failed to read the given information.

Not surprised.

I thought you and your kindred spirits (OOPS--was that stereotyping?) would appreciate my efforts to embrace the Trump movement. So, now, I get to talk like a man. I'm going to spit, cuss, talk smart, and encourage violence. YEP! That's me. Bring it on, Dude. Here's my violent post du jour.
Thanks from Daws77

The concept of an education for the pure joy of learning has been all but destroyed. Now days many children are being spoon fed the idea that college is a requirement and an investment into their future.

If one believes that education is an investment into their future and the job market has no jobs that can even cover the cost of the degree then the value of the degree has been dramaticly depleted.

There was a time that higher learning was just that a place for higher learning now we just view it as nothing more than an extension of high school an over priced prerequisite for life.
