So I guess you believe in the appeal to authority fallacy?

The fact of the matter is, there are no "authorities" in science since science is a tool of which anyone can wield, no matter what a framed piece of paper in someone's study or office happens to say.

Indeed, in the history of science, there are numerous examples of people who you would, seemingly, fallaciously label today as being "unqualified," such as Michael Faraday. And yet, their discoveries are today considered to be fundamental building blocks of today's understanding of our world.

I agree with you in concept. The difference is Faraday received education at the Royal Institute as well as being gifted in science. Nye has created nothing to advance science or impact science. Nye is an entertainer with an agenda. The Nye v Ham debate was like paying $5,000 for a ringside seat at Caesar's Palace to watch two random accountants pulled at random to fight for the ultracrepidarian championship.

The usual suspects are truly showcasing their grasp of the latest in Medieval scientific concepts!

I love how you stuck that "real scientists" in there hoping no one would notice.

When you add scientists like molecular biologists or particle physicists that number probably does go down. I'm willing to bet it is still a large majority.

So what is a "real scientist"? Are you including frauds like Ken Hamm who has a BA in applied science but pushes the completely unscientific idea of young earth creationism?

While you're at it you just made the positive claim that 97% of "real scientists" and climatologists do not agree with the idea that global warming is real and primarily caused by human activity. OK, what % do (or do not) agree and where do you get that number?

And the easiest way to differentiate between "real science" and "crap science" is that real science is supported by real scientists as in "97% of climatologists agree that global warming is real and is primarily driven by human activity."
I did not stick "real scientists" in there. You did.

The entire 97% is based on a sham two questions survey that only 25% of scientists queried even bothered to respond.

Somebody should ask jimmy how much he's paid to deny climate change. Who knows, he might really do believe humans ride dinosaurs millions of years ago.
