I did read your post, it was nonsense, you described how someone could survive at the poverty level.
But they might have to forego the "luxury" of health care....
Thanks from Twisted Sister

It was reported today on Yahoo News that the new Miss America who is black and has a degree in nuclear physics said, "Health care is a privilege."

And the thread is about "fair pay"

Here is the post I was responding to.

Back in 1975..after I first left home, I was working in a restaurant, making 10c an hour over minimum wage of the time. I was able to pay my half of the rent on a two bedroom apartment with a friend..and when he left, it was a little more expensive..but I could still afford my own small 3 room apartment+food and clothing and basic necessities...even a little drinking money for the weekend. How many cities can you do that today on minimum wage?

The state will provide people who are in need bus passes but you could buy a monthly one for around $80

Say I got the job and was paid $10hr I found a room for $350 a bike for $50

$10X40h=$400X4wk=$1600-$600(tax)=$1000-$350(rent)=$650-$80(bus)=$570

Even w/o taking government assistance any single person can live easily off of $570 a month (-$50 for the bike would be $520 first month)

I used to work w/ impoverished people for a living and still do it voluntarily and this was/is one of the very things that I would do.

People are not poor because of lack of opportunity but because they are bad w/ money.

Yes, there are circumstances and "bad times" but they do not last forever and here in the states we have a serious safety net. What most people are unable to do is budget. Out of all of the bullshit classes that are shoved down the food holes at the indoctrination camps unsurprisingly enough money management is not one of them. Fuck, the schools themselves cannot do this not to mention the teachers that basiclly get paid for doing nothing for 3 months out of the year are the ones not teaching money management.

Huh?

Again, your post was way off in left field.

What is "unfair" about the situation I described?

Being a pretty, black female and having a degree in nuclear physics makes a person an expert in the field of health care?
She has a personal opinion, just like everyone else.

That's not history! That's bullshit fabricated by the people who killed and forced out the original inhabitants of this continent! War was not constant! Slavery was only a practice of the empires of Mesoamerica such as the Aztecs. And speaking of which, their capital city - Tenochtitlan, was the largest city in the world at the time Cortez arrived and was greeted as a fulfillment of Aztec religious prophecy.
Humans are adaptive, but our dark side is more apparent in modern civilization than in traditional societies that had no/or limited hierarchies. Modernity is making people sick these days.

That's the problem with identity politics! There is a black elite..just as in other demographics..that doesn't share the same interests as the black majority. But, if Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus are any guide, they have more shared interests with the white ruling class than fellow African Americans!

Suit yourself.

Also, the Coahuiltecans, Atakapans, Tonkawas and Carancahuas were cannibals. I'm not talking about tribes that ate people when they got hungry enough, as people of many cultures have been known to do, but they ate their enemies as part of their culture, thinking that when they ate their enemies eyes they could see better, etc.
And yes, I'm part Injun myself.

Human nature has always had it's darker side and the sociopaths have very often risen to the top.

The only thing I know about Nuclear Physics is the Thorium v Uranium level which dates older than the Carbon 12 v Carbon 14 level. I predict she will have a stunning career in Archeology. She said it and is a genius.

Hunter-gatherer bands have held different cultural and ethical standards than modern "civilized" people. Be that as it may, the only "proofs" we have of "savages" practicing cannibalism come from western sources with vested interests to dehumanize local inhabitants! In his groundbreaking book "The Man-Eating Myth, the renowned anthropology professor- William Arens made the bold claim that NONE of the written accounts of cannibalism in the Americas, Africa, Asia or the South Pacific Islands contains proof that cannibalism of tribe members (endocannibalism) or cannibalism of outsiders or enemies (exocannibalism) was a cultural norm in any society discovered by explorers, missionaries, plunderers, imperialists or even modern anthropologists! The many accounts Arens dissected, did not indicate that cannibalism that might have been practiced was socially sanctioned by the tribal group...meaning that it was the same thing as modern cannibalistic accounts involving people stranded without food supplies, and the outcast misfits from communities for bad conduct and unnatural practices.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man-Eating_Myth

Arens' primary hypothesis is that despite claims made by western explorers and anthropologists since the 15th century, there is no firm, substantiable evidence for the socially accepted practice of cannibalism anywhere in the world, at any time in history. Dismissing claims of cultural cannibalism made against the Carib and Aztec peoples by invading Spanish colonialists, he tackles 19th and 20th century claims regarding socially acceptable cannibalism in Sub-Saharan Africa and New Guinea. Turning to prehistory, he critiques archaeological claims to have discovered evidence for such practices in Europe and North America. In the second half of the work, Arens puts forward his argument that an erroneous belief in "others" who commit socially sanctioned cannibalism is a global phenomenon. He proceeds to chastise the anthropological community for perpetuating the "Man-Eating Myth", suggesting reasons as to why they have done so.

Now, I just looked up the first group you mentioned "Coahuiltecans", and I find that they are a "now extinct" collection of indigenous groups that lived in the South Texas Area, who were invaded, attacked and enslaved by invading Spanish, Apaches(who by that time had adopted the barbarian tactics common among equestrian cultures all around the world and throughout history). The blurb in Wikipedia mentions that the last believed members of this community died out or lost their languages and cultures by the time the last three were located in 1889!

And remember the long-expected norm of historical record: History Is Written By The Winners! Every major tribal group in North America is clouded by some Euro account of unprovoked attack and cannibalism...including Mi'kMag ancestors on my father's side. Were they cannibals as the French claimed 400 years ago? Or are the claims made by foreigners in a foreign land who believe themselves to be superior?

Referencing the tribal small communities in the first paragraph, these were not societies that tolerated dangerous, violent or even selfish people with no conscience! Whereas today, sociopathic tendencies are an advantage in the modern, fast-changing, ruthless business world, where friendships and loyalties are temporary!
