California Moves To Jail People Who Use the Wrong Pronoun

Quote:

California legislators are set to vote this week on a bill that could criminalize using the wrong pronoun to refer to a transgender individual.

The bill, which passed the California state senate in May, has moved into the California state assembly as part of a slew of gender-based "anti-discrimination" laws designed to protect California residents who don't believe they fall into the gender binary.

Titled the "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Residents Bill of Rights," the new law would allow transgender individuals living in care facilities like nursing homes to use bathrooms in line with their preferred gender (not necessarily their biological gender), and would punish any caregiver who "knowingly" uses the wrong gender pronoun to refer to one of their patients.

Use "he" instead of "she" and you could face a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail for gender-based discrimination and harassment. The law, which says "knowingly," does not seem to identify a specific standard, leaving interpretation of motive up to authorities.

As with other types of verbal harassment, people just can't repeatedly harass a person for any reason just because they want to. Your article conveniently left out a few details but what should we expect from The Daily Wire.....LOL....Haters gotta hate.

Among the unlawful actions, according to the bill, is “willfully and repeatedly” failing to use a transgender person’s “preferred name or pronouns” after he or she “clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.”

What? You mean like calling people racist, sexist, nazis w/o any evidence? Should we start jailing people for that stuff? I mean that slanderous behavior actually has real world implications. Whereas not calling someone zee or zir or whatever the fuck only makes people feel bad because people are not recognizing their made up personas.

"Knowingly" is a legal term of art that means essentially with willful intent. I suspect this law, which seems to apply only to caregivers, would be akin to a doctor or nurse whose bedside manner included maliciously addressing a homosexual or lesbian patient as "Mr. Faggot" or "Madame Dyke". Clearly that kind of behavior by professional caregivers should be addressed.

Quite possible. But this is slippery slope territory. Language laws about the elderlys pronouns...Cummon. How many people in nursing homes are even aware of the 72 (or however many there are this week) pronouns, much less requesting the use of them? They are pawns in the radical lefts attempt to implement language laws into our society IMO.

Control the language. Control the thoughts.

This is beyond ridiculous.

I agree when it comes to policing random words between individuals. But some persons, due to the profession they have chosen, have voluntarily forfeited the right to say whatever they think. Certainly you would consider it unacceptable for elementary school teachers or administrators to address a child as "nigger boy" or "lesbo". Should a teacher who works with special ed students be allowed to address them as "retards"? Free speech DOES and SHOULD have certain reasonable limitations. That includes anyone entrusted with the personal responsibility that comes with working in the health care profession.

Sure. But again are the elderly care centers plagued by this, and furthermore IMO this is just an attempt to get this gender mumbo jumbo on the books. Someplace. Anyplace. I volunteer at the senior center. There are no zees, zirs, or theys there. I visit my grandparents on the regular, also they are not even aware of this malarkey. So really what is the point of this specific wording? Wouldn't what you are referring to be already be under professionalism? Any mistreatment of the guests of the geriatric centers and the people are out on their ass, ASAP. I have witnessed it time and again.
