It's sad when teachers infuse their own political opinions into a lesson that has nothing to do with history or politics. An elementary or middle school classroom is not a bully pulpit for teachers to preach propaganda at students. But...

I doubt that the far flung examples in this home-made video raise the specter of an organized conspiracy of left-wing extremists bent on turning all of our children into mindless democrats. Teachers ARE entitled to political opinions and free speech the same as everyone else, and monitoring every activity in every classroom in the country would be pointless, let alone impossible.

I wonder how many bigoted right wing teachers do the same, or at least shove outdated racial and gender stereotypes at students, possibly without even realizing it. E.g., in how many elementary classrooms across the country do children year after year dress up like friendly Pilgrims and Native Americans to commemorate Thanksgiving, without anyone ever mentioning the Pequot Massacre or the 2 centuries of genocide that followed?

The video itself seems like blatant right-wing propaganda.
Thanks from tristanrobin and RNG

I agree.
From personal experience, I know that there are right wing Christian teachers who insist on including anti-any-number-of-things in their lessons with Biblical validation, no matter what subject they're supposed to be teaching.

For every example of a teacher expressing a left wing ideology you will find an example of a teacher expressing a right wing ideology. This video doesn’t show that so it’s just as you claim, it’s right wing propaganda.

The Koch brothers and other right wing billionaires have for decades established schools for this and schools for that by donating money to colleges all over america. They actually pick the professors that will forward their right wing agenda.

Where'd you hear that? Everybody knows everyone in education is a liberal. So, you're saying the Kochs are funding liberals? I really doubt that.

Jane Mayer’s book “Dark Money” was an excellent book. Here is a snippet relevant to universities. The irony is, while the right wing decries liberal influence on college campuses, their billionaires have been involved in an organized effort to use their money to do the influencing.

Quote:

New Yorker reporter Jane Mayer’s new book “Dark Money” includes details that bolster concerns publicized by UnKoch My Campus and students and professors across the United States who have blown the whistle on Charles Koch’s cooptation of higher education programs.

Universities are the spine of Charles Koch’s lobbying model, which after four decades of finance has grown into an integrated network of professors, public relations agents, lobbyists, pundits, and politicians. Koch foundations have begun investing in campuses at an exponential pace, starting with just seven campuses in 2005.

From 2005 to 2014, Koch spent $109.7 million on 361 distinct campuses, according to Greenpeace’s updated analysis of IRS filings from Koch’s nonprofit foundations.

Charles Koch has long advocated for universities to advance corporate interests. Universities offer a sense of prestige and trust to Koch’s lobbying, serving to influence both current and future policy and regulation efforts. Universities compliment Koch’s efforts to influence a long-term change in American culture, and to increase the ideological appetite for a low-regulation economy that makes it hard to hold negligent companies like Koch Industries accountable.

My kids tell me about all kinds of stuff from there teachers Minneapolis public schools. There was just a few articles released about edina and how teaching postmodernism is screwing their schools. They have gone from one of the top public schools down to lower middle.
