Minnesota school district removes 'To Kill a Mockingbird,' 'Huckleberry Finn'

Remember when the religious right wae crying that the devil was in all of the music? How about when they tried to ban the harry potter books because of witchcraft? Well don't worry folks the authoritarian left have brought back a new moral panic in full force.

That is just wrong. Period. Both of these books have been bandied about before and usually they have been returned to the required reading list for H.S. students. I hope the parents and community members protest and voice their concerns about banning books.

Mockingbird and Huck are a historical reflection of our society at the height of racism in this country. They may be fiction but they portray reality and that should be discussed.

I have not read "To Kill a Mockingbird" but I have seen the movie. I have read "Huck Finn" several times. It is a great piece of Literature. Arguably the most noteworthy by an American author. Banning this book is a travesty.

Really?
The Authoritarian Left?
In Biloxi Mississippi?
In Minnesota maybe, but I don't think of banning books as a leftist thing.
Even if there is a school committee in Minnesota that will do it.

You should seriously read it. Fantastic book. The film is very well done also. I recommend you take the time. It is not very long.
