HeadCount, a nonpartisan organization that registers young voters at concerts, partnered with the students behind March for Our Lives and sent close to 1,000 volunteers to register marchers at Saturday’s crowd in Washington, which numbered 800,000 people, according to organizers.

HeadCount spokesman Aaron Ghitelman said volunteers, who were dressed in neon yellow or neon green shirts, were coming back with 10 to 20 filled-out voter forms each. And the young people who filled out those forms are from all over the country.

With more than 800 student-led demonstrations planned in the United States and internationally, the organizers of the March for Our Lives are aiming for a generational show of strength by a diverse movement united in a conviction that adults have failed them.

Still, for all their fierce energy, these liberal-leaning activists have yet to be tested in the arena of electoral politics. They face a political system that is historically resistant to major change, and a Republican president and Congress with a strong base of support among much older voters, many of whom have more conservative views on guns.
The power of our young folks will be tested, November 6, 2018. Dems need 24 seats in the HOUSE--no easy task. Republicans are still the safe bet to hold the Senate, but a path now exists for Democrats to get back the majority -- albeit a very narrow path. AND already, at least 38 House Republicans have announced they are retiring, running for another office or resigning outright. They're leaving from all over the map, from southern New Jersey to southern New Mexico.

This will be a very telling mid-term.

This is called counting your chickens before they hatch.

Gen Z is not going to put up w/ the one-sidedness that higher education has been afforded up unti now.

But go ahead a keep telling yourself that this Hollywood led propaganda party of sanctioned truancy is some sort of new and all powerful leftist movement. I will keep believing that the same people who believe in the constitution are the same people who spend time w/ their kids talking to them about the epic bullshit that is going on today and the importance of personal liberties.

They were used in WWI, as well.

The ruling was wrong.
Scalia was using an old school reference to a double barrel shotgun that was sawed off so it could be carried concealed by the old Italian mob hit men.

With today’s weapons technology, laws against sawed off shot gun barrels and automatic or”switch blade” knives has become an obsolete. A 12 guage shotgun in pump action variety are all the same whether they are 5 shot or 8 shot with 18, 20, or 24 inch barrels are multi purpose for police or hunting, which if used for hunting must only have 3 shots in it if you inspected by a game warden if you are in the field.

Scalia was just giving an example of just one type of an unusually dangerous weapon. Of which an AR or AK with a 30 or 40 round magazine could certainly be considered in that category.

What you have been saying all along...you mean since you read that OP the other day.

Adorable.

I see very little chance of the second being overturned, it would be wrong to do so. The criminal element in this country will always find a way to circumvent gun laws which would put law abiding citizens at more risk. Has anyone thought of that sorry of course you have, even the people who want to abolish the 2nd, what say you, what do law abiding citizens do then.

Nope. I have always pointed out the term “regulated militia” because the Right is always conveniently ignoring that part in discussions. It was included into the Amendment for a reason. Stevens merely discusses the logical interpretation of that same point.

Regulation is not confiscation. Quit being so hysterical.

This is the militia according to the law.
Quote:
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/10/246

In short, according to
U.S. Code › Title 10 › Subtitle A › Part I › Chapter 12 › § 246

10 U.S. Code § 246 - Militia: composition and classes

Every one is a member of a militia rather it is organized or not.
