STATE-MANDATED DEATH: Baby Alfie's Dad Giving Him Mouth-To-Mouth In Hospital

Quote:
The horror out of the U.K. concerning sick 23-month-old baby Alfie Evans continues. Earlier on Tuesday, Alfie was effectively sentenced to death yet again by the U.K. court system after a judge denied the the parents' request to travel to Italy to seek further treatment.

Now, with the child off of life-support since Monday evening and battling for his life, the baby's parents have been forced to give Alfie mouth-to-mouth while sitting in a hospital.

"Evans’ parents are giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in a desperate bid to keep him alive after a court ruled he cannot be flown to Italy for treatment," reported The Sun on Tuesday evening. "Tom Evans tonight said he and Alfie’s mum Kate are trying to help Alfie’s breathing after 'his lips turned blue.'"

I can't believe this is not a bigger thing. The UK is not letting this family take their child from their hospital to a hospital in Italy for treatment. They apparently placed 20-30 guards at the hospital to prevent people from taking the child out. I guess they ordered the child removed from life support so he could pass and he stayed alive last i heard dor 17 hours on his own. Italy gave him citizenship so they could bring him there for treatment. This has been blocked by the UK. A very similar thing happened just last year butbthe family wanted to bring their kid to the states.

Whoohoo UK and its socialized medicine.

Once again the ill informed and fundy christian nutters form and unholy alliance to cause more torment to an innocent child.Has this child not suffered enough without having his windpipe cut open and stitched up around a pipe then flown to a hospital in the vatican, the hospital has not seen the kid or his medical records.
The judge was fiercely critical of some of those close to Alfie’s parents. He described Pavel Stroilov, a Christian Legal Centre lawyer who has advised the family, as a “deluded and fanatical young man” who risked imprisonment for contempt of court with some of his legal advice. The court heard that Stroilov had advised Evans to pursue a private prosecution for murder against Alder Hey doctors.

The American doctor who offered to help Charlie Gard admitted he had a “financial interest” in the proposed treatment method, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) has said.

Michio Hirano said experimental drugs known as nucleoside therapy could give the critically ill baby a chance of survival, citing new results from a trial he had carried out on patients with a similar genetic disease.

The children's hospital, where the 11-month-old is on life support, said they were disappointed Dr Hirano had given evidence in court without having visited Charlie or having read his up-to-date medical information.
The US doctor at the heart of legal arguments over Charlie Gard has spoken publicly for the first time since the case ended.

Charlie's parents Connie Yates and Chris Gard ended their court fight to take him to the US for experimental treatment on Monday.

But Dr Michio Hirano, a neurology expert from New York's Columbia Medical Center, was criticised by Great Ormond Street Hospital for giving the family false hope that the treatment could help Charlie.

Dr Hirano has released a statement, saying: "I became involved in Charlie's case when I was contacted by his parents, and I subsequently agreed to speak with his doctors to discuss whether and experimental therapy being developed in my lab could provide meaningful clinical improvement in Charlie's condition.

"As I disclosed in court on 13 July, I have relinquished and have no financial interest in the treatment being developed for Charlie's condition.

"Unfortunately, a MRI scan of Charlie's muscle tissue conducted in the past week has revealed that it is very unlikely that he would benefit from this treatment."

Great Ormond Street raised concerns that "not only had he not visited the hospital to examine Charlie but in addition, he had not read Charlie’s contemporaneous medical records or viewed Charlie’s brain imaging".

The doctor had also not "read all of the second opinions about Charlie’s condition (obtained from experts all of whom had taken the opportunity to examine him and consider his records) or even read the Judge’s decision made on 11 April,” the hospital said in a statement read out in the courtroom by Katie Gollop QC.

“Further, GOSH was concerned to hear the Professor state, for the first time, whilst in the witness box, that he retains a financial interest in some of the NBT compounds he proposed prescribing for Charlie.”

Socialized medicine has nothing to do with it.

It's a government over-reach problem and our culture that is indifferent to or allows it.

The problem is much bigger than Alfie, and has been ongoing for years.

By what right does any judge or court have to order the death of a child?

There is NO WAY to excuse this tyrannical over-reach!

This is what Death Panels look like!

Pushing back the boundaries

If it's like Charlie Gard's case, there are medical conditions that we can barely diagnose, & can't treat yet. There is research ongoing to try to treat the cases like Gard's, but treatment is going to be experimental for some time - because the disease is rare.

& treatment will apparently be fairly exotic - gene-engineering & implanting corrected genes & gradually (?) or rapidly (?) replacing the defective genes. Early diagnosis is the key there, if I understand that correctly. & to get an early diagnosis, they'll probably have to take tissue samples of the potential parents (?) & run DNA scans on likely pairings.

Lots of messy ethical & legal questions to address there, & that's before we ever get to the treatment part itself.
