Cracking the Code: Using White Privilege to Right a Wrong

https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=GTvU7uUgjUI

This is an example of why we who are white will never understand what it is like to spend a day experiencing life in the same way as black people in the U.S.

I have been in grocery lines when the cashier has asked a White person to show two valid forms of ID and has checked the bad-check list. I heard nothing that told me this cashier was being racial. On the other hand, what I heard was a Black lady assuming it was racial, and her half-Black sister in law reinforcing the racism.
This was not a very good example of racism. Too many assumptions.

She didn't ask the 'white' woman for ID or check the bad check book.

caconservative is just a racially biased troll who likes to stir the post.

Frankly, I don't believe he's as dumb as he'd have to be make the statements he makes, nor to advocate/endorse some of the ideas he puts forth.

Mostly, I try to just ignore him. He's obviously a bigot - he's obviously not very well educated nor very well informed beyond his own limited landscape - and he's not very pleasant. All-in-all, I think it's an act to get people upset.

I'm hoping he goes the way of garysher and others.

If there is such as thing as the usual white privilege, then... let assume there is such a thing as constant black victimization?

Keeping this thread on-topic and not going off the rails, did you not feel the black woman in the video was victimized?

Possibly. But without further context and going on her word alone and no input from the cashier, i can't honestly say that there is anything to be drawn from this definitively.

And you're right. I didn't want to take you thread off topic. Your original post did inspire me to start another thread asking politically incorrect, unpopular or difficult questions.

did you read the article??????

the white woman said clearly that she hadn't shopped there before - that she was new to the area - but that the black woman shopped there regularly.

jesus

what a flippin' apologist for all the racists and creeps in the world.

But IN THIS INSTANCE the whites were NOT checked or ID'ed - only the black woman.

Why is this so difficult to comprehend.

I'm not saying all white people are racists - hell, I'm white! - but this clerk was obviously negatively profiling blacks.

Jesus, I thought this video was a good place to start a discussion, and it's become about whether or not it actually happened.

geeeeeeeeeesh

Is this a response to me or is directed at another?

What article?

Kudos to both women!

If this were Southern Florida it would be the other way around.

I remember vacationing there, and the exact opposite was taking place. However, i did not stand there and wonder about anything. I simply started making conversation about the tabloids and how absurd they are. The tension broke and on my way out the woman, a black cashier, and the girl bagging my groceries were all laughing and smiling and wishing me a good day.

Treat others like you want to be treated and they tend for the most part to treat you as such. Like another person, nothing more or less.

Very classy.

If only that were true for all. Cynicism has the ability to destroy what little human decency is left within.
